Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has become increasingly common in neonatal intensive care units and can lead to severe outcomes. Baby C, of a set of quadruplets, died of MRSA sepsis. The surviving siblings were colonized with MRSA. Expressed breast milk was fed to all infants; tested breast milk samples were all MRSA-positive. Pulsed field gel electrophoresis results of isolates from the infants and breast milk were indistinguishable.

Eligibility for autologous transplantation is a key factor for tailoring treatment decisions in patients with newly-diagnosed multiple myeloma. Early morbidity and mortality affect patient outcomes in multiple myeloma. Thus, we dissected the incidence and causes of morbidity/mortality during induction therapy (IT) for newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM), and developed/validated a predictive risk score. OBJECTIVE: To describe our experience with preeclampsia in high-order multifetal gestations.
METHODS: Records for all triplet and quadruplet pregnancies delivered after 24 weeks' gestation from January 1988 through June 1994 were reviewed. All patients were treated with bed rest from 20 weeks' gestation onward and received corticosteroids weekly beginning at 24 weeks. Tocolytics were used as needed.
RESULTS: Twenty-one triplet and eight quadruplet pregnancies were studied. The mean gestational age at delivery was 32.3 and 27.9 weeks, and mean birth weights were 1547 and 1028 g, respectively.

The health benefits of breastfeeding are well known. However, less is known about the frequency and duration of breastfeeding in twins. A population-based study of maternal factors associated with the early cessation of breastfeeding in preterm and term twins is reviewed. This is followed by research reviews and news concerning aging in twins, conjoined twin separation and school legislation for multiple birth children. Twins and quadruplets who have distinguished themselves in the areas of education, fashion design and humanitarian efforts are highlighted.

Treatment of multiple myeloma (MM) has evolved significantly over the past few decades. Up-front treatment options expanded from doublet regimens to triplets and now to quadruplets. Bed rest does not seem to increase the gestational age at the time of delivery but definitely improves the fetal outcome.
