Gingival myeloid sarcoma (MS) refractory to induction chemotherapy is a rare clinical entity and can be treated with palliative radiation therapy (RT). However, there are few previously published reports of RT approaches for the treatment of gingival MS. We present a single institution retrospective observational study of adult patients treated with palliative RT for chemotherapy refractory gingival MS. A total of six patients diagnosed with gingival MS in the setting of relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia treated with palliative RT were identified, with a median age of 66 (range 52-

A 62-year-old man with a past medical history of hypothyroidism was admitted for diarrhea and abdominal pain for three weeks. Initial workup for diarrhea was negative. His condition deteriorated after hospitalization. He underwent sigmoidoscopy which showed rectosigmoid mucosal ulceration. Pathology showed leukemic cells infiltration of the mucosa. The patient underwent bone marrow biopsy which confirmed the diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). He received induction chemotherapy and his symptoms improved.

Myeloid sarcoma, a rare consequence of myeloproliferative disorders, is rarely seen in the central nervous system, most commonly in the pediatric population. Although there are a handful of case reports detailing initial presentation of CNS myeloid sarcoma in the adult population, we have been unable to find any reports of CNS myeloid sarcoma presenting as a large mass lesion in a herniating patient. Here, we present the case of a patient transferred to our facility for a very large subdural hematoma. Based on imaging characteristics, it was felt to be a spontaneous hematoma secondary to coagu

Myeloid sarcoma is a rare entity, and cardiac involvement is even rarer. We presented here the FDG PET/CT findings of a 66-year-old man with a 3-month history of cough and progressive dyspnea. FDG PET/CT scan demonstrated nonuniform FDG uptake in the cardiac walls and pericardium. Biopsy of the heart revealed myeloid sarcoma. In addition, bone marrow biopsy demonstrated the acute myeloid leukemia.

The CNS involvement of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is more commonly manifest as meningeal involvement. Rarely it may present as intravascular tumor aggregates called granulocytic sarcoma which presents as intracranial hemorrhage. We are presenting a case of intracranial, intra-parenchymal granulocytic sarcoma (other names: chloroma, extramedullary myeloblastoma), presenting as acute hemiplegia without cerebral hemorrhage.

Myeloid sarcoma, which sometimes accompanies recurrent systemic leukemia, is a rare manifestation of congenital leukemia. We describe the case of a 1-month-old Japanese girl with myeloid sarcoma, who did not fulfill the criteria of systemic leukemia. The physical examination revealed a bruise-like plaque on the right side of her chest. Histopathologically, there were CD4+ CD56- CD68+ atypical large lymphocytes densely infiltrating the upper dermis and the subcutaneous tissue. Biopsy specimens from bone marrow contained only 3.4% of blast cells, showing an abnormality of the mixed-lineage leuke

Myeloid sarcoma, formerly termed granulocytic sarcoma or chloroma, consists of neoplastic granulocytic precursors and myeloblasts. Isolated chloromas (granulocytic sarcomas) are rare tumors. Spinal complications of chloromas, such as cord compression secondary to epidural tumor or cauda equine syndrome have been described but are rare. We herein report two cases with spinal granulocytic sarcomas in non-leukemic patients. The case of a previously healthy 22-year-old man diagnosed with multiple spinal granulocytic sarcomas with no evidence of bone marrow or other hematological involvement is des

Chloroma (myeloid or granulocytic sarcoma) is a rare type of tumour comprising immature granulocytic cells. It generally accompanies acute myeloid leukaemia and, rarely, other myeloproliferative disorders. When presenting as dural-based mass lesions, radiological differential diagnosis includes meningioma, metastasis and lymphoma. There is a limited number of descriptions of chloromas mimicking dural-based masses in the literature. We present preliminary diffusion-weighted MR, perfusion-weighted MR and MR spectroscopy findings of an intracranial myeloid sarcoma.

BACKGROUND: Myeloid sarcomas are rare extramedullary infiltrations of immature myeloid cells seen in leukemic, myeloproliferative, and myelodysplastic syndromes. Cardiac infiltration of these cells clinically manifest based on the heart anatomy that is affected.
CASE SUMMARY: A 61-year-old male with significant history of acute myeloid leukemia status post hematopoietic stem cell transplant, left renal myeloid sarcoma status post chemoradiation, and left eye myeloid sarcoma status post chemoradiation was found to have new cardiac myeloid sarcomas (CMS) after presenting with subacute chest pai

We report the case of a 35-month-old previously healthy girl who presented with a history of several months of both an enlarging orbital mass and a contralateral iris mass as her initial signs of acute myeloid leukemia.

Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is a rare neoplasm, represented by a tumoural mass composed of myeloid blasts, occurring at any anatomical site other than the bone marrow. MS is considered the tissue-based equivalent of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), requiring the same therapeutic specification, independently from the association with previous or coexisting myeloid neoplasms. Isolated breast involvement by MS is exceedingly rare, with only exceptional cases reported in the literature. This work aims to provide a pictorial essay of the main features of breast involvement by MS. Even though it is a rare co

We report a case of myeloid sarcoma(MS)that primarily developed in the spleen. The patient was a 60s man with a chief complainant of low-grade fever following a dental implant. Although he underwent intensive antibiotic treatment, including levofloxacin, meropenem, and vancomycin, no significant decline in fever was observed. Abdominal contrast-enhanced CT revealed an LDA occupying the majority of his spleen, which was diagnosed as a splenic abscess. Although a CT-guided biopsy and drainage for the spleen were considered, a puncture of the spleen was not performed due to the substantial concer
