BACKGROUND: This study analyzed the dental follicle and alveolar bone of two patients with tooth eruption disorders, aiming to provide some … tissue. And observe the eruption of teeth after removing resistance from the crown of the permanent tooth germ.
CONCLUSION: HE staining of two cases of dental follicle tissues showed that the volume of dental follicle cells decreased, the nuclei were condensed, and there seemed to be cellular fibrosis. The immunohistochemical staining showed that both the d …

The egg tooth is a hatching adaptation, characteristic of all squamates. In brown anole embryos, the first tooth that starts differentiating is the egg tooth. It develops from a single tooth germ and, similar to the regular dentition of all the other vertebrates, the differentiating egg tooth of the brown anole passes through classic morphological and developmental stages named according to the shape of the dental epithelium: epithelial thickening, dental lamina, tooth bud, cap and bell stages. The differentiating egg tooth consists of three parts: the enamel organ, hard tissues and dental pul…

Tooth eruption is of the utmost importance for the normal development of the dentition and the face. Since the 1980s, it has been known that the tooth germ itself is not essential for facilitating the processes that make tooth eruption possible. For that reason, recent research on the regulatory mechanisms of tooth eruption has focused mainly on the enamel organ and the dental follicle. Different regulatory mechanisms act on the occlusal and the apical sides of an erupting tooth. On the occlusal side osteoclast differentiation is stimulated. This leads to the development of an eruption canal, …

The junctional epithelium (JE) is an epithelial component that is directly attached to the tooth surface and has a protective function against periodontal diseases. In this study, we determined the origin of the JE using a bioengineered tooth technique. We transplanted the bioengineered tooth germ into the alveolar bone with an epithelial component that expressed green fluorescence protein. The reduced enamel epithelium from the bioengineered tooth fused with the oral epithelium, and the JE was apparently formed around the bioengineered tooth 50 days after transplantation. Importantly, the JE …

Histories of 311 abscesses of odontogenic origin found in different tissue spaces were evaluated. Location, cause, age distribution, pathogenic germs, and therapeutical measures were discussed. The perimandibular abscess was found most frequently, the second most common was the submadibular abscess. The parapharyngeal and paratonsillary abscesses were the rarest. The age of the patients was mainly between 30 and 50 years. Most often the lower molars were the starting point of the abscess. The spectrum of pathogenic germs comprised 14 different germs. Surgical therapy which is always necessary

The aim of the present publication is to provide a broad survey of the current concepts on the regulation of tooth eruption. There is increasing evidence that tooth eruption is a multifactorial process. The bone resorption occlusal to an erupting tooth is probably induced by the occlusal part of the follicle, and allows the tooth to erupt. The occlusal movement it self is likely to be regulated by a localized increase in tissue fluid pressure in the apical area. The bone deposition which is often observed apical to an erupting tooth is more likely to be a reaction to the eruption than a source

Tooth development and replacement in fetal and adult viviparous caecilians (Amphibia: Gymnophiona) are described and analyzed according to current theories of tooth succession. The fetal dentition differs from that of the adult in morphology, position, and function. Teeth are used by fetuses to scrape the oviducal epithelium, thus stimulating the secretion of a nutrient substance. Fetal dentitions vary in morphology and position in different species. The ontogeny of teeth of several species is described and the patterns of addition of loci and of replacement are analyzed. Loci are added both p

C-src deficiency is characterized by osteopetrosis due to impaired bone resorption by hypofunctional osteoclasts and the resultant failure o … f a ruffled border. From early development, the alveolar space was much narrower in the upper molar tooth germs than in the lower ones in both wild type and homozygous animals, and particularly so in the upper 1st molars. Current observations thus indicate a significant contribution of "hypofunctional osteoclasts" in c-src deficient mice in molar tooth devel …

Expression of clusterin (Clu) in the murine first molar tooth germ was markedly increased at postnatal developmental stages. The time-course of expression of this gene paralleled those of other genes encoding proteins involved during the secretory phase of odontogenesis, as described previously. Immunohistochemical studies of clusterin in murine molar tooth germs suggested this protein to be located in outer enamel epithelium, regressing enamel organ, secretory ameloblasts, and the dental epithelium connecting the tooth to the oral epithelium at an early eruptive stage. Immunolabelling of tran…

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Third molars are often removed in order to prevent complications and various other problems associated with impacted teeth.
CASE PRESENTATION: A healthy 17-year-old girl with no history was referred to the Department of Oral Surgery by her orthodontist to remove mandibular third-molar germs. Panoramic radiography showed the presence of impacted mandibular third-molar germs, vertically positioned, with incomplete root formation. The tooth germs (48, 38) were extracted under local-regional anesthesia. The postoperative period was uneventful.
CLINICAL DISCUSSION: Ge…

Tooth development involves epithelium invagination, mesenchyme aggregation, and epithelium-mesenchyme communication. A sophisticated signaling pathway network regulates the differentiation and crosstalk of multiple cell types in tooth germs and coordinates the broad spectrum of complex processes. MicroRNAs (miRNAs), a class of small non-coding RNA species that have been relatively well studied over the last few years, are now proposed as important regulators of tooth developmental signaling pathways as they repress cellular protein levels to provide a posttranscriptional gene regulation. In th…

Dentigerous cyst is a common type of odontogenic jawbone cyst in clinical practice, often involving immature permanent tooth germ in children. Traditional cyst curettage may cause damage to the developing permanent tooth germ and surrounding important anatomical structures. This article reports a case of a large mandibular dentigerous cyst in a 9-year-old female child, which was treated with negative pressure drainage through window decompression surgery. During the operation, a lateral opening drainage tube was prepared and fixed with flowable resin. The cyst significantly shrank 6 months aft…
