Fibromyalgia (FM) remains a condition with a pathogenesis that is not completely understood, affecting a significant portion of the global population. This article summarises the main advances in FM during the last year. Even in 2023, research on FM was notably active. The aim of this study was to compare the fetal loss between triplet pregnancies that underwent fetal reduction to twins and triplets which continued in spite of reduction being suggested to all of them. During a five year period a total of 3,518 cycles underwent ovarian stimulation with GnRH analogues, HMG, pure-FSH and HCG for the purpose of IVF; 2,918 women underwent ovarian aspiration leading to 2,380 embryotransfers. The case of a Japanese female infant with thanatophoric dwarfism, a triplet, is reported. The diagnosis was made at 18 weeks' gestation. Triplets were delivered at 30 weeks' gestation by cesarean section. Two infants, both males, were normal; the female with dwarfism died of respiratory distress 34 min after delivery. This is the first known case of one fraternal triplet being affected by thanatophoric dwarfism.

Twenty patients with triplet pregnancies underwent continuous-wave Doppler ultrasound umbilical artery waveform studies as part of a multiple-pregnancy surveillance program. Triplet pregnancy of over 20 weeks gestation occurred 20 times during 75,506 deliveries at a referral hospital. Commonly occurring maternal complications included premature delivery (75%), antepartum anemia (35%), postpartum hemorrhage (35%), preeclampsia (20%), and premature spontaneous rupture of the membranes (20%). Malpresentation was common. Neonatal complications were also common and included respiratory distress syndrome (45%), presumptive sepsis (36.6%), hyperbilirubinemia (33%), and neonatal death (21.6%). The course of gestation and labor and the outcome of 31 triplet pregnancies were analyzed. Early diagnosis is very important for improving the rate of fetal salvage in multiple pregnancy. The outcome of triplet pregnancies was better in the group of patients with induced ovulation than in the group with spontaneous ovulation. The most frequent antenatal complications were preterm labor (97%), pregnancy-induced hypertension (46%), and anemia (20%). In this series the favorable results were due to earlier diagnosis, prolonged hospitalization, and planned delivery, usually by cesarean section.

Analysis of 27 consecutive triplet pregnancies seen at the University Teaching Hospital in Enugu, Nigeria, from 1972 to 1979 revealed an incidence of one in 1014 live births; three of these mothers had had a previous twin pregnancy. PURPOSE: To evaluate the incidence and severity of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) amongst surviving triplets.
METHODS: Records of preterm babies born to mothers with triplet pregnancies were retrieved from our Indian twin city ROP study database between 1 Jan 2000 and 31 Dec 2020 and analyzed.

BACKGROUND: Neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (NAIT) has been reported only rarely in twins and not at all, to our knowledge, in triplets.
CASE REPORT: Nonidentical triplets were born with severe thrombocytopenia. Nadir platelet (PLT) counts were 17 × 109 , 12 × 109 , and 10 × 109 /L. NAIT was confirmed by an incompatibility for human PLT antigen (HPA)-1a and the presence of maternal anti-HPA-1a. The maternal genotype was HPA-1bb and the paternal genotype was HPA-1aa; thus, all children were affected.
