OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the prevalence of and factors associated with latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) based on the tuberculin skin test (TST) and to estimate the boosted reaction rate among newly employed healthcare workers (HCWs).
DESIGN: Newly employed HCWs between January 2010 and July 2012 at Severance Hospital in South Korea were enrolled in this study. A one-step TST was conducted before October 2011, and a two-step TST after October 2011.

Healthcare workers (HCWs) have an increased risk of tuberculosis (TB). Screening for latent tuberculosis infection and active TB is therefore essential in infection control programs. Tuberculin skin test (TST) and Interferon -gamma Release Assay (IGRA) were used simultaneously in 1686 HCWs between May 2007 and April 2009. Cytochemical tuberculin-associated shifts along with their prognostic evaluation were studied in 30 patients with silicosis and silicotuberculosis with intrathoracic adenopathy. The study revealed that a decrease of alkaline phosphatase activity of neutrophils, alpha-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase and succinate dehydrogenase lymphocytes could serve as an early indicator of tuberculosis process in the pulmonary tissue and intrathoracic lymph nodes.

Efficiency of the clinical use of a new procedure for estimating the host focal response to subcutaneous administration of 50 TU of OT was studied in 121 patients. The procedure is based on measuring conductivity in the zones of lowered resistance on the scrotum skin and over the prostate at the background of a provocative tuberculin test performed with apparatus Elektronika-Elita-4M. The procedure provided positive effects in 85 per cent of the patients with tuberculosis of the external genitalia and in 50 per cent of the patients with specific inflammation of the prostate.

BACKGROUND: A novel skin test-called Diaskintest (DT)-containing specific M. tuberculosis antigens is in clinical use in the Russian Federation (RF). This test may improve diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) infection. The use and performance of the DT was described and compared to the tuberculin skin test (TST).
METHODS: Data on children <18 years referred to a TB reference centre (Jan/2018- Dec/2019) with ≥1 DT and TST result available were analysed. An immune correlate of TB infection was defined as a positive TST (≥10 mm induration) or a positive DT (any induration).

BACKGROUND: ESAT6-CFP10 (EC) skin test has been reported accurate and safe in identifying tuberculosis infection. We aimed to demonstrate the safety of EC skin test compared with tuberculin skin test (TST) in university freshmen.
METHODS: We conducted a double-blind, randomized, controlled clinical study in a university freshmen population with 16,680 participates in China, and finally 14,579 completed the study. About a half received an EC skin test and the others received TST. Adverse reactions were evaluated.
