We report the results of an oral tolerance test performed in 317 patients with kidney stones. In order to avoid PTH or AMPc measurements, and therefore to reduce costs and time to get the results, we measured the tubular maxima of phosphate per glomerular filtration rate (TmP04/GFR, the phosphate threshold). In pregnancy calcium antagonism is of great importance. The uterus-relaxing properties of verapamil are well known, diltiazem shows an excellent tokolytic efficacy and is also effective as hypotensive in pregnancy-induced hypotension. In contrast to verapamil and diltiazem the dihydropyridines were not clinically successful as tokolytic or hypotensive in pregnancy. Magnesium is a therapy of first choice in the EPH-gestosis.

It has been controversial whether increased renal tubular calcium reabsorption contributes to hypercalcemia in patients with malignancies.
