INTRODUCTION: Erectile dysfunction (ED) has a dual negative impact on men and their female partners; both are likely to face a drop in sexual quality of life and challenges to their intimate relationship as couples' sexual activities are curtailed by the loss of erectile function.

OBJECTIVE: To define the value of plasma prolactin assay in the assessment of erectile insufficiency.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Plasma prolactin assay (radioimmunoassay) was performed in 445 patients presenting with erectile insufficiency (mean age 52.5 years).
RESULTS: 9 patients (2%) presented plasma prolactin levels greater than 25 ng/ml and 4 (0.9%) of them had levels higher than 35 ng/ml. Eight of these 9 patients were taking hyperprolactinaemic drugs. The aetiology remained unclear in 1 patient, but the pituitary gland was normal on CT scan.

A retrospective analysis of 186 priapism cases between 2015-2024 was conducted using ICD-10 codes (N48.3) in a single high-volume institution. Data on age, race, insurance status, priapism subtype, etiology, and treatment outcomes were collected.
