BACKGROUND: Uncontrolled aortic aneurysms can progress to aortic dissection (AD), a severe vascular disorder characterized by hematoma formation in the aortic wall, with inflammation playing a crucial role. Galectin-3 (Gal-3), a 26-kDa lectin, regulates many aspects of inflammatory cell behavior. Inhibition of Gal-3 ameliorates diabetic neuroinflammation and cardiomyopathy. In this study, we explored the intricate relationship between Pannexin 1 (PANX1) and the Hippo signaling pathway effector, Yes-associated protein (YAP). We previously found that osteopontin (OPN) played a role in hypoxia-ischemia (HI) brain damage. However, its underlying mechanism is still unknown. OBJECTIVES: To identify and validate biomarkers in JDM patients using a multiplexing tandem mass tag urine proteome profiling approach.
METHODS: First morning void urine samples were collected from JDM patients (n = 20) and healthy control subjects (n = 21) and processed for analysis using a standardized liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry approach.
