Symptom and personaltiy profiles of 33 agoraphobic women and their husbands are examined, revealing some evidence for assortative mating. The implications of this are discussed, and predictions are made about the changes required within a marriage in order to permit the effective symptomatic treatment of the female partner.

The three clinically encountered disturbances of the male orgasmic phase--that is, premature ejaculation, inability to ejaculate, and retrograde ejaculation--are discussed. The problem of defining premature ejaculation is explained and the possible pathogenic mechanisms of its origin are reviewed. The classic premature ejaculator is described. Also included are an elaboration of the newer therapeutic approaches to the problem and a suggested clinical protocol for screening patients. The other two, less common dysfunctions are briefly discussed.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a serious and difficult to treat psychiatric condition characterized by affective and interpersonal instability, impulsivity, and self-image disturbances. Although the relationship between BPD and substance use disorders has been well-established, there has been considerably less research regarding behavioral addictions in this population. Survivors of multiple AIDS-related losses face threat to their identity because of the extreme disruption to their personal, assumptive, and interpersonal worlds. This article briefly explains the experience of multiple-loss survivors and includes a case history of a survivor. An individual's sense of self is transformed through identification with the disease. In the gay community, a particularly strong identification with AIDS arose. One outcome of the meshing of an AIDS and homosexual identity is the tendency for gays to assume an identity in relation to HIV ("I am HIV positive/negative.")
