To evaluate the antiarrhythmic effect of reflex-induced vagal activation, phenylephrine was infused in 17 patients with frequent ventricular premature complexes (VPCs). The role of heart rate reduction in suppressing VPCs was explored by pacing the atria at the preinfusion levels. Baroreceptor activation was considered effective when a greater than or equal to 20% decrease in heart rate was observed. The blink reflex and it's recovery cycle were studied in 26 patients with Gilles de la Tourette syndrome and 10 controls. There was a significant increase in the mean duration of the R2 response. The non-nociceptive H-reflex in the musculus soleus were recorded before and after auricular electroacupuncture (AEAP) in patients with vertebrogenic pain syndrome. Changes of the H-reflex on the side of the pain syndrome were observed after ipsi- and contralateral AEAP, the latter producing effect more often. Changes of H-reflex are mainly of facilitating character (71.4%) and, rarely, of inhibitory character (14.3%). In the part of patients AEAP produced distinct facilitation of M-response.

Detrusor bladder neck dyssynergia (DBND) is a well recognised cause of bladder outflow obstruction, especially in the younger man. The cause is unknown, and the aim of this study was to determine if any neurological dysfunction is associated with this condition. Twenty-five males with proven DBND had sacral reflex latency studies performed. The conduction latencies indicate that the underlying cause is unrelated to any demonstrable neuropathy. Sacral reflex latencies are not helpful in the investigation of DBND.
