INTRODUCTION: Robotic assisted thoracic surgery (RATS) has been growing all over the world, presenting itself as an improvement over video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). The main advantages are the precision of the movements, as well as the three-dimensional vision with the consequent perception of the depth of the surgical field. Thus, technically more difficult procedures, such as anatomic segmentectomies and bronchoplastic resections, are facilitated. This surgical approach also improves the quality of mediastinal lymph node dissection, extremely important in lung cancer patients.

BACKGROUND: Rectal prolapse is defined as the protrusion of the rectal wall through the anal canal; with a prevalence of less than 0.5%. The most frequent symptoms include pain, incomplete defecation sensation with blood and mucus, fecal incontinence and/or constipation. Traditionally, bilateral UPJO in adults was managed by the staged approach during the open surgery era, because of need for two separate incisions and change of patient positioning. In addition, there was a feared risk of post-operative bilateral renal obstruction. Even with advent minimal invasive laparoscopic surgery, simultaneous pyeloplasty did not pick up due to difficult suturing. However, robot-assisted surgery, with its distinct advantageous, had made it feasible. In this case series, we demonstrate safety and feasibility of bilateral simultaneous pyeloplasty over short term.

BACKGROUND: External approaches have been traditionally used for the complete excision of large retropharyngeal space lesions.
CASE REPORT: This paper describes a case of a large schwannoma of the retropharyngeal space excised transorally with the use of a robotic system. This lesion measured 2.7 × 1.2 cm in axial dimensions and over 5.8 cm in craniocaudal length. The lesion was delivered en bloc with an intact capsule. No peri- or post-operative complications were encountered. The procedure allowed quick resumption of an oral diet and a return to normal activity for the patient.

Objective: To summarize clinical experience on application of transoral robotic surgery (TORS) in pharyngeal tumour resection. INTRODUCTION: Bladder augmentation is a common surgical intervention for neuropathic bladder dysfunction, and has conventionally been an open procedure. We present a robotic ileocystoplasty to demonstrate the feasibility of an entirely intracorporeal approach in a pediatric patient.
