Condyloma acuminatum of the bladder.

Condyloma acuminatum in the bladder of 2 patients on immunosuppressive therapy after kidney transplantation is described. The successful treatment was transurethral electroresection and coagulation. We do not recommend radical operations in cases of condyloma acuminatum. Resected specimens should be examined pathologically to exclude papillary epithelial tumors.

Evaluation of the Efficacy of Active Hexose Correlated Compound as an Adjuvant in Reducing Recurrence After Condyloma Cauterization.

Background and Objectives: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most prevalent sexually transmitted illnesses. HPV is responsible for genital condyloma lesions. A durable and effective systemic treatment regimen has not been established for HPV-related infections. In the present study, our purpose was to evaluate the role of active hexose correlated compound (AHCC) in preventing relapse in patients who underwent cauterization for condyloma accuminata. Materials and Methods: A total of 244 individuals admitted to our hospital between January 2019 and June 2022 were diagnosed as having condy

Subclinical penile human papillomavirus infection and dysplasia in consorts of women with cervical neoplasia.

Fifty men whose sexual partners were 50 women with histologically proved cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) grade III (severe dysplasia or carcinoma in situ) were studied. A further 25 men whose current regular sexual partners were 25 women with chlamydial cervicitis were recruited as controls. If either of the partners in either group had genital condylomata acuminata or a known history of similar lesions, the couple was excluded from the study. Abnormal penile epithelium, which was detected by colposcopy after application of 5% acetic acid to the penile skin, was reported in 25 men in …

Cutaneous findings in HIV-1-positive patients: a 42-month prospective study. Military Medical Consortium for the Advancement of Retroviral Research (MMCARR).

BACKGROUND: Cutaneous disease is common in patients infected with HIV-1. OBJECTIVE: The aim of our study was to identify cutaneous markers … the occurrence and severity of both conditions increase with disease progression. Tinea infections, condylomata acuminata, and verrucae are seen early, but with disease progression, although there is no clear increase in occurrence, these infections become more diffuse and resistant to treatment. Flares in acne vulgaris and folliculitis show a peak occurrence in early …

Human papillomaviruses associated with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. Great diversity and distinct distribution in low- and high-grade lesions.

All together, 30 genital human papillomavirus (HPV) types have been characterized so far. To evaluate the importance of HPV diversity in associated cervical diseases, we analyzed 188 biopsy specimens obtained from patients with a recent diagnosis of cervical HPV infection or intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). Of these 188 specimens, 116 were classified as low-grade CIN (48 cases), high-grade CIN (53 cases), condylomata acuminata (10 cases), flat condylomas (five cases). Seventy-two specimens were considered nondiagnostic. Using probes specific for 18 genital HPV types, HPV DNA sequences were det…

Intraepithelial Penile Lesions.

Intraepithelial penile lesions encompass non-neoplastic and preneoplastic lesions. Non-neoplastic lesions comprise condyloma acuminatum, including giant condyloma acuminatum, also known as Buschke-Löwenstein tumor. It is usually the low-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) types 6 and 11 that are most prevalent in penile condylomas. However, high-risk HPV types can be detected along with low-risk types in a subset of patients. Penile intraepithelial neoplasia (PeIN) is a preneoplastic lesion that is either HPV-associated or HPV-independent. HPV-associated PeIN represents the majority of PeIN in reg

Impact of Male Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination on HPV Infection and HPV-Related Diseases: A Systematic Review.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection worldwide and is responsible for anogenital warts and several cancers. Although the effectiveness of female HPV vaccination has been well established since its introduction in 2006, no systematic review has specifically evaluated the impact of male vaccination programs introduced in 2011. We synthesised real-world evidence on gender-neutral vaccination (GNV), identifying 17 studies reporting rates of HPV infection, anogenital warts, and HPV-related cancers during the pre- and post-GNV periods among males in high-incom

Efficacy of human papillomavirus vaccines in the prevention of male genital diseases: a systematic review.

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the results of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) regarding the efficacy of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in preventing male genital-related diseases. METHODS: A systematic search of English language literature using PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library was performed in April 2024 according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol. RESULTS: Evidence from four RCTs (including 7008 male participants) support the efficacy of the quadrivalent HPV vaccine in preventing genital warts and persistent HPV infection i

Transmission and therapeutic modalities on condyloma acuminata in children: a case report.

This case report presents a unique instance of condyloma acuminata in a one-year-old child, which adds to the scientific literature by highlighting the potential for non-sexual transmission in pediatric patients. The child exhibited a rapidly enlarging, skin-colored lump around the anus, initially a small bump that soon resembled a cauliflower. Acetowhite testing was positive, and histopathological examination revealed hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, and papillomatosis, leading to the diagnosis of condyloma acuminata. The main therapeutic intervention involved the application of 90% trichloroaceti
