OBJECTIVES: Conjunctival squamous dysplasia can often be confused with pterygium and pinguecula. Incomplete excision of dysplastic tissue can lead to recurrence and rarely intraocular invasion. A 6-year-old boy presented with neovascular glaucoma secondary to total retinal detachment. Magnetic resonance imaging findings suggested diffuse infiltrating retinoblastoma. Enucleation was subsequently performed and led to a final histopathological diagnosis of advanced Coats' disease. Diffuse infiltrating retinoblastoma and advanced Coats' disease can be indistinguishable from each other on magnetic resonance imaging.

PURPOSE: To describe a case of a subconjunctival mycetoma that developed after a patient received a sub-Tenon's injection of triamcinolone acetonide.
METHODS: Case report.
RESULTS: A 76-year-old white male presented with a subconjunctival mass in the area of a previous posterior sub-Tenon's corticosteroid injection for wet age-related macular degeneration. Microbiologic and pathologic analysis of the mass revealed the causative organism to be the pigmented fungus Exophiala jeanselmei.
CONCLUSION: This is the first published case of an Exophiala-associated subconjunctival mycetoma.

PURPOSE: To emphasize that solitary orbital extramedullary plasmacytoma, a rare tumor, is not invariably radiosensitive.
METHOD: We examined a patient who had undergone empirical irradiation that failed to control an orbital tumor.
RESULTS: After a second biopsy had secured the diagnosis of a solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma, further irradiation proved ineffective and exenteration was required. The patient was free of recurrence one year after exenteration and had satisfactory cosmesis with a prosthesis.

A study of orbital bony expansion using a custom tissue expander was performed in the anophthalmic cat model. Twelve 6-week-old kittens underwent right unilateral enucleations.
