The three-dimensional organization of the smooth musculature around the human ampulla is revealed by means of scanning electron microscopy after NaOH maceration and ultrasonic microdissection of the interstitial connective tissue. The muscular wall of the ampulla appears as a continuous network of randomly anastomosed smooth muscle cell bundles that showed a multidirectional arrangement. The smooth muscle cell bundles modify their orientation along their course, intertwine repeatedly with each other and dichotomize, generating new bundles with a different orientation from that at the origin. Fallopian tubes were obtained from 25 women undergoing abdominal hysterectomy. Pieces of fallopian tube mucosa were placed in culture flasks containing minimum essential medium in Earle's salts supplemented with fetal bovine serum. First passage was carried out after 7-10 days and subcultures in 4-5 days. For polarised cell culture, epithelial cells were seeded onto an extracellular matrix system. Staging and surgical as well as post-operative treatment of primary Fallopian tube carcinoma (FTC) followed the lines established for primary ovarian cancer (OC). In a nationwide retrospective analysis we were able to find a distinct difference between these two tumours. GIFT under USG control (USGIFT) was performed in 18 females between may and december of 1992. The ovulation was stimulated by gonadotropin and Clomid. In result we obtained four pregnancies--three normal uterine pregnancies and one ectopic pregnancy. One of these pregnant women gave birth to a child in February 1993.

Peritoneal dialysis is commonly used to treat patients with end-stage renal disease. Patients on long-term peritoneal dialysis develop edema and fibrosis of the peritoneal membrane, but the morphologic effects on the organs of the female genital tract are obscure. We noted squamous metaplasia of the ovarian surface epithelium in a patient on peritoneal dialysis, leading us to review all cases of peritoneal squamous metaplasia in our surgical pathology database. Massive ovarian edema (MOE) is a rare benign condition that can occur at any age, and mainly affects women of childbearing age and prepubertal girls. Patients with MOE do not have specific signs and symptoms, and imaging may show cystic or solid masses.
