Kingella kingae causes bacteremia, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, septic arthritis, meningitis, spondylodiscitis, and lower respiratory tract infections in pediatric patients. Usually it demonstrates disease after inflammation of mouth, lips or infections of the upper respiratory tract. To date, therapeutic targets in this bacterium remain unexplored.
