BACKGROUND: Haber's syndrome is a rare form of autosomal dominant genodermatosis. Clinically, it is associated with rosaceiform dermatosis of the face that begins in childhood, and profuse keratotic lesions resembling seborrheic keratoses, seen predominantly on the trunk, the tops of the limbs and the scalp. We report two cases of Bowen's disease and cutaneous epidermoid carcinoma in Haber's syndrome patients.

We present a case of primary ureteral carcinoma composed of both transitional cell carcinoma and mucinous carcinoma. A 79-year-old woman visited her home doctor with the chief complaint of right lower abdominal pain. Abdominal computed tomographic scan (CT) disclosed a tumor measuring about 5 cm in diameter at the right lower quadrant of the abdomen. Percutaneous nephrostomy was performed for hydronephrosis and pyonephrosis. The urinary cytology revealed class V, transitional cell carcinoma. A serous carcinoma and endometrial intraepithelial carcinoma were encountered in an endometrial adenofibroma in a 61-year-old woman. The carcinoma involved the myometrium and cervix (stage IIa). To our knowledge, this is the third documented case of an adenocarcinoma and the first serous carcinoma involving a uterine adenofibroma.

We report an unusual case of two nail-bed streaks under one nail, revealing melanoma in situ affecting the nail bed and plate, but not the nail fold. This unusual mode of presentation together with the absence of any nail-fold involvement has not been reported previously. We highlight the need for early histological assessment of nail-bed lesions and discuss subungual melanoma.

A 60-year-old woman with no symptoms was found to have a mass shadow in the left lower lobe of the lung on chest radiography. Open lung biopsy and left lower lobectomy were performed. Histopathological study of the specimen revealed two distinct neoplasms. One tumor was a low grade B-cell lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) of the lung, while the other was an adenocarcinoma. The two neoplasms were admixed to form a composite tumor.

Hepatic adenomatosis is a rare disease defined by multiple hepatic adenomas. There is controversy with regard to the optimal treatment for this disease because the potential for intraperitoneal hemorrhage or malignant transformation of the tumors is difficult to estimate. Obstructive jaundice is most commonly due to luminal stones or lesions of the head of the pancreas and more rarely ampullary and primary common bile duct lesions. Obstruction due to lesions of the ampulla of Vater may be due to adenocarcinoma which has a significantly better long term prognosis than carcinomas located in the head of the pancreas. A case is presented where two tumours were identified at the ampulla of Vater of the resected specimen one an adenocarcinoma and the other a carcinoid tumour representing a collision tumour.

Von Recklinghausen's Neurofibromatosis is an autosomal dominant disease of variable manifestations. Association with gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary tumours is well documented, most of them being benign neurofibromas. Other tumours, such as leiomyomas, sarcomas, ganglioneuromas and carcinoids are less frequent. Much rarer is the development of epithelial malignancies and an ontogenic relation is not clear. The authors reports a case of adenocarcinoma of Vater's Ampulla and duodenal neurofibromas, in a patient with Von Recklinghausen's disease, presenting obstructive jaundice.

A 44-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of acute promyelocytic leukemia. A nodular shadow (2.5 cm in diameter) was seen in the right upper lung field on a chest roentgenogram. During the administration of combination chemotherapy for the leukemia, diffuse granular shadow appeared in all lung fields. Transbronchial lung biopsy findings indicated tuberculosis. The patient was given streptomycin, isoniazid, rifampicin and ethambutol, but the nodular show enlarged and a pleural effusion appeared on the right side. Infantile myofibromatosis is a rare mesenchymal disorder of infancy characterized by the formation of tumors in the skin, muscle, viscera, bone and subcutaneous tissue. The etiology of the disorder is unknown. We describe here a newborn with multiple infantile myofibromatosis, peritonitis and intestinal perforation. We report the case of a patient with two distinct brain tumors. A meningioma was resected surgically. Nine months later a glioblastoma appeared in the same region, but at a different site. This was not treated, because the patient died. The clinical significance and etiology of these tumors are considered.

Hepatic angiomyolipoma is a rare tumor which may occur as a solitary mass or as an associated finding with tuberous sclerosis. While computed tomography allows identification of the fat component of the lesion, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can provide similar information, as well as multiplanar visualization and further characterization of the vascular component of the lesion. MRI utilizing fat suppression and gadolinium enhancement may best provide all of the above information, as is demonstrated in this case report, thus potentially representing the imaging modality of choice.
