Multimodal Flotation Sensing: A Systematic Review of State Identification and Sensor Readiness.

Reliable state identification is essential for intelligent flotation control because recovery, concentrate grade, entrainment, and mineral losses are only partially observable online. This systematic review examines field instrumentation, online analyzers, froth imaging, temporal synchronization, machine-vision methods, multimodal soft sensing, and the engineering requirements that determine whether a predictive model can operate as an industrial sensor. Scopus and Web of Science publications from 2021 to June 2026 were screened using a PRISMA-based protocol. The systematic evidence base inclu

Research on Target Image Classification in Low-Light Night Vision.

In extremely dark conditions, low-light imaging may offer spectators a rich visual experience, which is important for both military and civic applications. However, the images taken in ultra-micro light environments usually have inherent defects such as extremely low brightness and contrast, a high noise level, and serious loss of scene details and colors, which leads to great challenges in the research of low-light image and object detection and classification. The low-light night vision image used as the study object in this work has an excessively dim overall picture and very little informa

Preliminary characterization of a novel form of progressive retinal atrophy in the German Spitz dog associated with a frameshift mutation in GUCY2D.

OBJECTIVE: To describe the clinical, preliminary electroretinographic and optical coherence tomography features of a newly identified form of progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) in German Spitzes, and identify the causal gene mutation. ANIMALS: Thirty-three client-owned German Spitz dogs were included. PROCEDURES: All animals underwent a full ophthalmic examination, including vision testing. In addition, fundus photography, ERG, and OCT were performed. A DNA-marker-based association analysis was performed to screen potential candidate genes and the whole genomes of four animals were sequenced.

Syndromic retinitis pigmentosa caused by biallelic SCAPER frameshift variant.

PURPOSE: Mutations in the SCAPER gene have previously been reported to be a rare cause of syndromic and non-syndromic autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa (RP). We report a case of syndromic RP caused by a frameshift heterozygous mutation in SCAPER. Our case has a relatively mild ocular phenotype with the presence of cone involvement noted on full field electroretinogram (ffERG) without impacting central or color vision. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A 17-year-old male presented with progressive nyctalopia in both eyes. He underwent ophthalmic examination and multimodal imaging. A complete retin

Novel Epigenetic Clock Biomarkers of Age-Related Macular Degeneration.

Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is a bilateral ocular condition resulting in irreversible vision impairment caused by the progressive loss of photoreceptors in the macula, a region at the center of the retina. The progressive loss of photoreceptor is a key feature of dry AMD but not always wet AMD, though both forms of AMD can lead to loss of vision. Regression-based biological age clocks are one of the most promising biomarkers of aging but have not yet been used in AMD. Here we conducted analyses to identify regression-based biological age clocks for the retina and explored their use

NGRID: A novel platform for detection and progress assessment of visual distortion caused by macular disorders.

This paper presents a new graphical macular interface system (GMIS) for accurate, rapid, and quantitative measurement of visual distortion (VD) in the central vision of patients suffering from macular disorders. In this system, a series of predefined graphical patterns or multiple grids (NGRID) are randomly selected from a library of patterns and visualized on the screen, then the VDs identified by the patient are recorded as binary codes using various control methods including speech recognition. Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is used to generate the patterns and save them into a central libr

Exposure to Type 1 and Type 2 Maternal Diabetes is Associated with Stage 3-5 Retinopathy of Prematurity.

PURPOSE: Pathologic similarities between retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and diabetic retinopathy, leading causes of blindness, suggest that in utero exposure to maternal hyperglycemia may influence an infant's risk of ROP progression to vision-threatening stages. Prior studies exploring this association yielded conflicting results and did not explore maternal diabetes mellitus (DM) subtypes. We aim to clarify these associations while adjusting for significant comorbidities. DESIGN: Retrospective cohort study. PARTICIPANTS: Preterm infants born at <31 weeks gestational age (GA) or <1500 g b

Comparative Evaluation of Visual Outcomes and Patient Satisfaction After Eyecryl SERT Versus TECNIS Eyhance Intraocular Lens Implantation in Cataract Patients.

Background Intraocular lenses (IOLs) that extend a single focal point are designed to improve intermediate vision while maintaining the optical clarity of traditional monofocals. Unlike multifocal designs, they aim to reduce visual disturbances such as glare and halos, offering a more comfortable visual experience. These lenses are particularly beneficial for modern tasks like computer use, cooking, or dashboard viewing, where intermediate vision plays a critical role. This study is part of a larger prospective investigation comparing visual outcomes, patient satisfaction, and safety of the Ey

Vitreous Floaters Functional Questionnaire for Vision-Degrading Myodesopsia From Vitreous Floaters.

IMPORTANCE: Vision-degrading myodesopsia (VDM) from vitreous floaters can be associated with degraded contrast sensitivity and poor visual quality of life, although it is unclear how to best evaluate subjective patient disturbances. Floater-specific, vision-related, patient-reported outcomes might improve assessment of disease severity and case selection for therapy as well as provide useful outcome measures of present and future treatments. OBJECTIVES: To develop a Vitreous Floaters Functional Questionnaire (VFFQ) and to determine if the VFFQ score correlates with vitreous density measured b

Knowledge gaps and practices for glaucoma among adults in Palestine: a cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness globally, often progressing asymptomatically until advanced stages. Awareness and knowledge of glaucoma are critical determinants of early diagnosis and treatment-seeking behavior. Data on glaucoma awareness in Palestine are scarce. This study aimed to assess the level of awareness, knowledge, and attitudes regarding glaucoma among the general Palestinian population and to identify sociodemographic factors associated with inadequate knowledge. METHODS: A population-based cross-sectional study was conducted from December 1 to De

Personality Traits and Sociodemographic Correlates in Saudi Arabia: A DSM-5 AMPD Criterion B Study Using the PID-5-BF.

Introduction: Personality disorders are enduring, maladaptive patterns that impair social and vocational functioning. The DSM-5 Alternative Model for Personality Disorders (AMPD) distinguishes Criterion A (personality functioning: identity, self-direction, empathy, intimacy) from Criterion B (maladaptive trait domains: negative affectivity, detachment, antagonism, disinhibition, psychoticism). We frame this study within Criterion B, supporting the use of a dimensional approach that complements (rather than replaces) normative models like the Five-Factor Model (FFM) and addresses cross-cultural
