The skin lesions of erythema annulare centrifugum developed in a 58-year-old woman who had Hodgkin's disease. Response of the neoplasm to vinblastine sulfate was accompanied by disappearance of the skin lesions. When therapy was discontinued, both disorders recurred, and both responded to reinstitution of vinblastine therapy. To our knowledge, this case is the first reported association of erythema annulare centrifugum and Hodgkin's disease. The cutaneous manifestation in this patient were a nonneoplastic concomitant of her neoplastic disorder.

BACKGROUND: Coccidioidomycosis may be associated with a reactive generalized cutaneous eruption early in the course of the illness. Detailed descriptions in the literature are scarce.
OBSERVATIONS: We describe 3 patients with a florid eruption associated with pulmonary coccidioidomycosis. The exanthem mimicked erythema multiforme clinically but not histologically. In 2 of the patients, the eruption began before the presence of detectable antibodies in the serum.
CONCLUSION: The presence of the exanthem, in combination with fever and/or pneumonia, was a helpful clue to the diagnosis of coccid…

The bullous diseases that are neither immune-mediated nor inherited form a heterogeneous group that may be classified according to their major histopathologic characteristics. Such a classification allows clear distinctions to be made between entities that may have clinical similarities such as staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome, toxic shock syndrome, erythema multiforme/toxic epidermal necrolysis, and acute graft-versus-host disease. Proper differentiation of these entities is critical for their study and for appropriate management.

Widespread dermatitis developed in three women after use of vaginal preparations. Besides allergic contact dermatitis, these cases involved erythema multiforme and a photosensitive eruption. Antigen absorption into the general circulation through the vaginal wall, and its deposition at distant skin sites, appeared to account for the spread of the eruption. This type of eruption is akin to the systemic, eczematous, contact-type dermatitis mediated by a systemically given drug in a primarily cutaneously sensitized person.
