Using a self-reported questionnaire, 213 Shiraz University students were surveyed about their attitudes towards drug use (cigarettes, alcohol, opium, heroin, cannabis) and their use of drugs (ever or during the 6 months prior to the study). About 52% had smoked cigarettes, 25% had tried alcohol, 21% opium and 12% cannabis; only one student had used heroin. Those who had used drugs obtained them from and used them with friends or acquaintances. Culture has historically been interpreted as the beliefs, mores, and lifeways of groups of people primarily related to race and ethnicity. However, individuals who self identify as being lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgendered experience ethnocentrism when seeking care from medical and health professionals. Using the principles and concepts of Lenninger's theory of Culture Care Diversity and Universality, members of sexual minorities can assist their health care providers to provide culturally sensitive and ethical care.

This study evaluated the effects of peer counseling in a culturally specific adolescent pregnancy prevention program for African American females. A random pretest and multiple posttest experimental and comparison group design was used to obtain data on a sample of 63 female African American adolescents, ages 12 to 16, who lived in four public housing developments. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: In an investigation of condom breakage in commercial sex, we found a high proportion of multiple condoms use. This study sought to ascertain the characteristics of brothel-based commercial sex workers (CSWs) and their clients; to identify the decision makers (clients and/or CSWs) active in choosing multiple condom use; and to determine whether there is an implicit hierarchy of condom use negotiation.
GOALS: To identify factors associated with multiple condom use in commercial sex and to provide an understanding of how this innovation developed in this setting.

This Editorial provides background information to inform the report from the United Kingdom (UK) and Eire Association of Genetic Nurses and Counsellors (AGNC) Supervision Working Group on Genetic Counselling Supervision. We begin by introducing the context of practice as a genetic counselor in the UK and then follow with an overview of events that have happened in our profession that led to the need and creation of the report.
