OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of celecoxib in treating inflammatory(Type IIIA) chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CP/CPPS-IIIA type).

We investigated the activity of a pyrazolo-isothiazole derivative (G8) against Cryptococcus neoformans. A first screening test showed that G8 at 10 mg/L inhibited the growth of 14 of 15 clinical isolates tested. Killing experiments showed that fungicidal activity was achieved after 8 h of treatment with G8 at concentrations > or =10 mg/L. In a murine model of systemic cryptococcosis, G8 was effective at prolonging survival compared with the controls. Our data indicate that this new derivative has a potential therapeutic role in infections caused by C. neoformans.

We report an 83-year-old woman with severe concomitant pathology who underwent surgery for colon cancer, with recurrent bleeding from the tumor, and subcompensated intestinal stenosis. After right-sided hemicolectomy with regional lymph node dissection, the disease was staged as pIIIC, and a translocation of the NTRK1 (Neurotrophic Tyrosine Receptor Kinase) gene was detected. We report a case of primary intramedullary infantile fibrosarcoma (IFS) in a 4-week-old infant with rapidly progressive cervical myelopathy. Histology showed a spindle cell tumour with diffuse S100 and pan-TRK expression. RNA sequencing identified an RBPMS::NTRK3 fusion. RNA-based clustering and DNA methylation profiling classified the tumour as IFS. Treatment with the TRK inhibitor, larotrectinib, achieved marked clinical and radiological recovery within 1 month, expanding the spectrum of NTRK-rearranged sarcomas and confirming TRK inhibition's efficacy in primary central nervous system IFS.

BACKGROUND: Dirofilaria immitis is a life-threatening mosquito-borne parasite affecting dogs. Prevention mainly relies on macrocyclic lactones (MLs), but D. immitis resistance to MLs and lack of compliance may occur. Multimodal strategies combining chemoprophylaxis and vector control with insecticide and repellent products are often recommended. This study evaluated the efficacy of Frontline Tri-Act® (IVP), a topical combination of fipronil and permethrin, in preventing the transmission of D. immitis by repelling mosquitoes in naturally exposed dogs.
