Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. Hirschsprung's disease is a condition characterized by absence of nerves in the intestines, secondary to failure of migration of neural crest cells therein. Hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell carcinoma (HLRCC) is an autosomal dominant manifestation of cutaneous and uterine leiomyomas together with renal cancer due to autosomal dominant germline mutations of fumarate hydratase gene. A twenty-year-old female patient presented with type-II segmental piloleiomyoma and increased menstruation due to uterine leiomyomas, with a history of bilateral nephrectomy performed at 13 and 16 years of age for type 2 papillary renal cell carcinoma. This case represents one of the very early onsets of hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell carcinoma syndrome.

The haemodynamic effects of four daily oral doses of 1·5 mg/kg of aminorex (as fumarate) were measured in unanaesthetized beagle dogs. A similar study was performed in another group of related animals using d-amphetamine sulphate (1 mg/kg). OBJECTIVES: The use of antipsychotics in persons with Parkinson's disease (PD) is common, although their use may aggravate the symptoms of PD. Quetiapine is a common off-label antipsychotic drug for treating insomnia. Its effects in different disease conditions and dosages remain unclear. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis in clinical trials examining the efficacy of low-dose quetiapine in sleep. We obtained 21 clinical trials. Quetiapine, an atypical antipsychotic, is widely used to treat delirium in intensive care units (ICUs). Studies demonstrate its efficacy and favorable safety profile. We report a case of an elderly patient who developed clinical and biochemical evidence of neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) 5 days after quetiapine was commenced. Signs of NMS resolved after discontinuation of quetiapine and administration of dantrolene. Quetiapine-induced NMS has occurred with long-term use in the elderly in the outpatient setting. However, NMS has not previously been reported after treatment of ICU delirium.

A 23-month-old boy was brought to a medical center by his mother, as she noticed that the father has gripped him around the neck and this had left marks. As a result of this, a child protection medical examination was requested. However, there was a significant chronology of mental health issues in the mother. Among the mother's medications, quetiapine and propranolol were the more active. Given a consultant pediatrician was concerned that the boy was vulnerable and potentially has experienced neglect and physical harm, the local authority instructed a hair test to document possible poisoning.
