Three patients at our institution developed corneal infections associated with sutures placed after clear corneal incision cataract surgery. Bacteraemia of oral origin may result in infective endocarditis in susceptible individuals. The aim of this pilot study was to investigate the occurrence of bacteraemia due to periodontal probing.
