Assessment of farmers' knowledge, attitude, practices (KAP) and effectiveness of anti-parasitic drug against buffalo louse, Haematopinus tuberculatus.

Lice infestations in water buffaloes can lead to decreased weight gain, reduced milk production and damage to the animals' skin and hair. In addition to causing skin irritation, anorexia, restlessness and, in severe cases, anaemia, lice infestations can spread infectious diseases, including anaplasmosis. In this study, 1000 buffaloes were examined for louse infestation, and 543 buffaloes tested positive for Haematopinus tuberculatus, showing a 54.30% overall prevalence. The face-to-face interviews of 125 respondents showed positive attitudes of 85.60% respondents towards lice control and 64.8%

Generalized Actinic Granuloma After Prolonged Heat Exposure Improving With Baricitinib: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.

A 54-year-old Asian male cook had 12-month annular erythematous plaques on post-auricular regions, hand dorsa and forehead (central atrophy, mild pruritus, 0.5-8 cm), induced by prolonged heat exposure. T-spot, ANA, fungal test, and diabetes history were normal. Histopathology and reflectance confocal microscopy confirmed actinic granuloma (AG). Given AG's JAK1/2-STATs-related pathogenesis, baricitinib (2 mg/day) achieved marked improvement in 6 months, with no recurrence or adverse effects during 12-month follow-up.

Fipronil Baits as Emerging Tools for Flea Control and Plague Mitigation: Experiments with Cricetid Mice on Prairie Dog Colonies.

Plague is a zoonotic disease of mammalian hosts and flea vectors. Wildlife biologists most commonly mitigate plague by controlling flea populations. We evaluated the efficacy of edible baits for systemic flea control with two cricetid species on colonies of black-tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys ludovicianus): the western deer mouse (Peromyscus sonoriensis) and the northern grasshopper mouse (Onychomys leucogaster). We tested grain bait with 0.005% fipronil by weight and "FipBit" pellets with 0.46-1.52 mg of fipronil/pellet. Flea prevalence was assessed via combing of live-trapped mice. In one exp

Three-Dimensional Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship-Based Molecular Design through a Side Arm Strategy to Synthesize Phenylpyrazole Oxime Derivatives and Improve Their Insecticidal Activity and Photoself-Degradation.

Three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR) serves as one of the most important and effective tools to guide molecular design for the development of new pesticides. According to the principle of structural splicing, only changing a small group may lead to a great increase in activity while maintaining the active center unchanged. Under the guidance of 3D-QSAR, three series of phenylpyrazole oxime fluorescent insecticides acting on the GABA receptor, namely, esters (POEs), ethers (POETs), and triazoles (POTs), were designed through a side arm strategy and synthesize

Efficacy of eltrombopag for treatment of thrombocytopenia in the setting of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Thrombocytopenia following an allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (allo-HCT) is a potentially serious complication, and the efficacy of eltrombopag, a thrombopoietin receptor agonist, in this context is unclear due to inconsistent findings. Additionally, other post-allograft outcomes in eltrombopag treated patients such as transfusion independence, overall survival (OS), and non-relapse mortality have not been systematically reviewed. The aim of this systematic review/meta-analysis (SR/MA) is to evaluate the efficacy of eltrombopag in allo-HCT-induced thrombocytopenia by analyzing data fr

[The role of Janus kinase inhibitors in the treatment of juvenile idiopathic arthritis].

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) presents ongoing treatment challenges despite advances in treatment over the last few years. This review presents that recent studies highlight the potential of Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKi) to significantly reduce disease activity. However, concerns about long-term safety, including cardiovascular risks and malignancy, underscore the need for more research. While JAKi offers a promising therapeutic avenue in pediatric rheumatology, the long-term safety profile requires further investigation to assert its place in standard treatment guidelines.

Osivelotor for the treatment of sickle cell disease.

INTRODUCTION: Despite advances in the treatment of sickle cell disease (SCD), an inherited disorder leading to abnormal sickle hemoglobin (HbS) polymerization, patients continue to have a shorter life expectancy comparatively to the general population. Increase in the concentration of oxygenated HbS in red blood cells (RBCs) has been considered as a novel approach to inhibit HbS polymerization and reduce RBC sickling and their complications, raising interest for novel oxygen affinity modulators. AREAS COVERED: This review summarizes the characteristics and primary results obtained with osivel

Ruxolitinib Cream 1.5%: A Review in Non-Segmental Vitiligo.

Topical ruxolitinib 1.5% cream (Opzelura®), a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor, is the first treatment to be approved in several countries for use in patients aged ≥ 12 years with non-segmental vitiligo. In the identical phase III TRuE-V1 and TRuE-V2 trials, significantly more ruxolitinib cream recipients were able to achieve statistically significant and clinically meaningful facial and total body repigmentation, as well as reductions in vitiligo noticeability, compared with vehicle recipients. Efficacy was sustained in longer-term analyses to week 104 of treatment. Ruxolitinib 1.5% cream was gen

Antidotes for poisoning by alcohols that form toxic metabolites.

The alcohols methanol, ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol share many characteristics. The most important is that the compounds themselves are relatively nontoxic but are metabolized, initially by alcohol dehydrogenase, to various toxic intermediates. These compounds are readily available worldwide in commercial products as well as in homemade alcoholic beverages, both of which lead to most of the poisonings, from either unintentional or intentional ingestion. Although relatively infrequent, toxic alcohol poisonings do unfortunately occur in outbreaks and can result in severe morbidity and m
