Rarely has a solitary, metachronous bilateral adrenal metastasis of colorectal cancer been reported. We depict a 41-year-old man who underwent sigmoid colon cancer radical surgery followed by adjuvant chemotherapy for a locally ulcerative sigmoid adenocarcinoma with metachronous bilateral adrenal metastasis revealed by a computed tomography scan. Histopathological examination showed adenocarcinoma, compatible with metastasis from the rectal cancer. We present a patient with pseudo-Meigs syndrome (PMS) secondary to sigmoid colon cancer metastasis to the ovary with elevated serum levels of carcinoembryonic antigen, CA19-9, and CA-125 who showed a marked change in pleural effusion before and after surgery. OBJECTIVE: Faecal occult blood testing is being introduced for population screening in the United Kingdom. Flexible sigmoidoscopy may provide a viable alternative. The outcomes of the flexible sigmoidoscopy trial are awaited but the most obvious disadvantage is that only the lower third of the colon is examined and proximal pathology cannot be excluded. The relationship between proximal pathology and distal findings at flexible sigmoidoscopy is uncertain. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of distal neoplasia in patients with confirmed proximal cancers of the colon.

BACKGROUND: The rationale of palliative endoscopic treatment is to avoid a colostomy in patients with advanced disease and limited life expectancy. This study was conducted to evaluate the role of endoscopic stent implantation for palliation of obstructing rectal cancer.
METHODS: Overall, 19 patients (aged 47-87 years) with nonresectable or metastatic rectal cancer were treated by stent insertion after laser recanalization or dilation. Three types of stents, i.e., plastic tubes (n = 8), self-expanding mesh stents (n = 6), and endocoil stents (n = 5), were used to maintain luminal patency.

A 60-year-old man underwent resection of a sigmoid colon adenocarcinoma, left hepatic lobe, part of segment 6 and 8, due to its metastasis. He received hepatic artery infusions of 5-FU total amount, 15.5 g. There was no recurrence in the liver, but he developed sclerosing cholangitis, and a large biliary cyst formed in segment 8. After drainage of the cyst by percutaneous-trans-hepatic approach, bile leakage persisted, and liver dysfunction was progressive. Sclerosing cholangitis-induced biliary cyst formation is rare. Occlusion, or necrosis of the peripheral bile duct may be the cause.

A 61-year-old complaining of anorexia and general fatigue was admitted to our hospital for further examination. She was diagnosed as advanced sigmoid colon cancer with multiple metastases of lung, liver, and left hydronephrosis. Since curative surgery was not deemed possible, we started chemotherapy with bevacizumab/FOLFOX6 (bi-weekly drip infusion). A 62-year-old male presented with a 2-year history of hyperkeratotic lesions of the hands and feet. Previous treatment with topical steroids was unsuccessful. Register and census data for complete cohorts of Norwegian men and women born between 1935 and 1969 have been used to examine the relationship between reproductive factors and the incidence of colorectal cancer.
