OBJECTIVES: To explore the epidemiology of contact dermatitis and related skin exposures in Danish adolescents.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was designed as a self-administered questionnaire study. An electronic questionnaire, intended to cover previous and current atopic dermatitis, previous and current facial- and hand eczema, and current skin exposures, was sent out to a random sample of 13.000 Danish individuals aged 15-19 years.

BACKGROUND: Neutrophilic eccrine hidradenitis (NEH) is a form of neutrophilic dermatitis characterized by tender erythematous and painful papules involving the trunk, extremities and face. The generalized form is associated with malignant hemopathies. The palmoplantar form occurs in children without any context of malignancy. A 62-year-old male presented with a 2-year history of hyperkeratotic lesions of the hands and feet. Previous treatment with topical steroids was unsuccessful. A complete physical examination revealed the presence of blood in the stool, and sigmoidoscopy showed an ulcerative growth at the rectosigmoid junction. The histopathology showed adenocarcinoma.

Onychomycosis is a public health concern because of its high world wide prevalence, and its potential for spread of fungal elements to others. About one half of all patients presenting to dermatologists' offices for nail disorders have onychomycosis. This kind of infection may impact upon physical, functional, and emotional aspects of life. We report on the case of a 62-year-old patient with disseminated pustular plaques affecting especially his face and hands. These lesions exhibited severe blistering later in the course. The diagnosis of an unusual variant of an acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis (Sweet's syndrome) was histologically confirmed. Pustular lesions are known to occur in Sweet's syndrome. Secondary development into bullous lesions, however, has not previously been described. No associated disease has so far been detected.
