The Nd:YAG Laser is one of the most effective methods for treatment of acute condylomata. This method has been used at the Children Gynaecological Consulting Room at the Desk of Obstetrics and Gynaecology--University of Medicine,Varna, for two years. We report a case of HIV infection with herpes simplex, syphilis, and condyloma acuminatum in a 66-year-old heterosexual man. The patient was an asymptomatic carrier (group II) of HIV infection. Herpes simplex on his penis was controlled by aciclovir. Secondary syphilis was treated with penicillin G, after which skin lesions disappeared. These four diseases were all sexually transmitted diseases (STD). One should consider the possible existence of other STD in similar cases.

One hundred and forty seven cases of pseudocondyloma, which were diagnosed by colposcopy and histopathology, and 129 cases of condyloma as control group were studied. Pseudocondyloma showed colposcopically as crowded together distribution of single papilla or vesiculated papules without branching structure and capillary loops. A Japanese woman with condyloma acuminatum of the urinary bladder is presented. The condyloma acuminatum lesion was resected endoscopically and human papillomavirus 6/11 DNA was detected. After treatment, there has been no recurrence of the disease.

The authors report their personal experience of the treatment of condylomas in both male and female patients using cryosurgery. The temperature of -80 degrees C which can be obtained using hyperdry nitrogen monoxide equipment allow radical treatment to be performed without pain in an outpatient setting without general or loco-regional anesthesia. Genital Papillomavirus infection has now reached epidemic size. Several techniques may be used to treat genital condylomas, but none of them is 100 percent effective. At the first consultation for external genital condylomas, the choice of treatment is determined by the size, location, number and histology of the lesions. Clinicians caring for sexually active adolescents are likely to be called on to diagnose and treat many of the STDs discussed in this article. Human papillomavirus (HPV) infections cause the koilocytotic and dyskeratotic cell changes seen in cervical smears. Although the koilocyte is pathognomonic, the role of the isolated dyskeratocyte in predicting the presence of HPV infection is not yet defined. Flow cytometry was done on 82 specimens of cervical cytologic scrapings and biopsies from patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia or condyloma. This study yielded significant results when compared with standard cytologic (p less than 0.01) and histopathologic studies (p less than 0.05).
