Periventricular/intraventricular hemorrhage occurs commonly in the premature newborn. Recent studies indicate an incidence of 35-45%. Following PVH/IVH, the likelihood of developing hydrocephalus is related to the severity of the hemorrhagic lesion. The clinical and radiological features of idiopathic aneurysmal dilatation of the ileum in 3 adult patients are described. This uncommon lesion presents as an aperistaltic saccular segment in direct continuity with the normal ileal lumen. On barium examination of the small bowel, however, it may closely resemble and be mistaken for a Meckel's diverticulum. Previous reports about this entity manifesting in the pediatric age group are reviewed.

The case is reported of a man of 48 with known longstanding gross cardiomegaly which was completely asymptomatic. Angiocardiography and coronary arteriography showed dilatation of the right side of the heart, and especially of the auricle. In addition, the ventricle was separated from the diphragm by a transparent non-fluid area. Geese and ducks were photosensitized by the ingestion of Ammi majus seeds, and exposure to sunlight. Mydriasis was a characteristic clinical feature of this syndrome in both species. Histologically the iris of the affected birds showed vacuolisation and varying degrees of atrophy of the muscle of the sphincter pupillae. The effect of pilocarpine and physostigmine on the normal and mydriatic eyes was studied. The possible mode of action of photosensitization and the significance of these findings in the light of the use of psoralens in human medicine is discussed.

The dilatation of major arteries following early after extensive soft tissue trauma was demonstrated angiographically not to be affected by pharmacologic or mechanical contractile stimuli. The proximal spread of the dilatation was not abolished by the division and a reanastomosis of the vessel before the trauma. These results suggest loss or impairment of the contractile ability of the major arteries following early after the trauma.

We report a rare case of bilateral pericallosal artery ectasia with stenosis in a 49-year-old man complaining of frontal headache. CT showed a serpiginous calcified interhemispheric fissure lesion with contrast enhancement. Imaging of this lesion was pursued with MR and MR angiography; however, conventional cerebral angiography was needed to make a definitive diagnosis.

Cardiovascular manifestations in patients with Marfan syndrome (MFS) are related to aortic and valvular abnormalities. However, dilatation of the left ventricle (LV) can occur, even in the absence of aortic surgery or valvular abnormalities. Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCMP) is a myocardial disease associated with dilatation of one or both the ventricles, impaired myocardial contractility, decreased cardiac output, and increased ventricular filling pressures. Patients with end-stage renal disease are dependent on renal replacement therapy to survive and often manifest with a variety of pathological organ dysfunction. We present a case of DCMP and chronic kidney disease posted for emergency reduction of strangulated umbilical hernia under general plus epidural anesthesia.

Ureterocele is a congenital cystic dilatation of the intravesical segment of the ureter. As a consequence, the proximal ureter and renal pelvis become dilated and that results in renal-parenchymal pathological involvement. Management of this anomaly is still controversial.
