Identifying Gaps in Pelvic Pain Education: A Scoping Review and Structured Analysis of Obstetrics and Gynecology Training Milestones.

OBJECTIVE: Several clinical practice guidelines on the evaluation and management (EM) of chronic pelvic pain (CPP) have been published; however, it is not known whether obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) educational milestones are aligned with current practice recommendations. Therefore, this scoping review and structured analysis aims to identify gaps between clinical guidelines for the EM of CPP and OBGYN training milestones published by educational authorities like the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the AAGL. DATA SOURCES: The literature search was performe

Frontline Nurses' clinical judgment in recognizing, understanding, and responding to patient deterioration: A qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Early warning systems and rapid response teams have been widely implemented in hospitals worldwide to facilitate early recognition and response to patient deterioration. Unfortunately, evidence suggests that these interventions have made little impact on unexpected cardiac or respiratory arrest, hospital mortality, unplanned admission to intensive care units, or hospital length of stay. These programs depend on nurses recognizing at risk patients and initiating a timely response. Although physiologic abnormalities commonly precede serious adverse events, nurses often fail to recogn

The Transitions Clinic Network: Post Incarceration Addiction Treatment, Healthcare, and Social Support (TCN-PATHS): A hybrid type-1 effectiveness trial of enhanced primary care to improve opioid use disorder treatment outcomes following release from jail.

BACKGROUND: In 2016, at least 20% of people with opioid use disorder (OUD) were involved in the criminal justice system, with the majority of individuals cycling through jails. Opioid overdose is the leading cause of death and a common cause of morbidity after release from incarceration. Medications for OUD (MOUD) are effective at reducing overdoses, but few interventions have successfully engaged and retained individuals after release from incarceration in treatment. OBJECTIVE: To assess whether follow-up care in the Transitions Clinic Network (TCN), which provides OUD treatment and enhanced

Information needs of patients in spine surgery: development of a question prompt list to guide informed consent consultations.

BACKGROUND CONTEXT: Informed consent is mandatory before surgery and fundamental in the physician-patient interaction. However, communication is sometimes suboptimal. PURPOSE: The objective was to develop a question prompt list (QPL) for patients undergoing spine surgery (spinal neurosurgery-QPL, "SN-QPL") to encourage them to acquire information during the informed consent consultation (ICC) and assess patients' information needs. STUDY DESIGN/SETTING: We conducted a prospective uncontrolled single center study in order to develop a QPL for patients undergoing spine surgery. PATIENT SAMPLE

Non-clinical interventions to reduce unnecessary caesarean section targeted at organisations, facilities and systems: Systematic review of qualitative studies.

OBJECTIVE: When medically indicated, caesarean section can prevent deaths and other serious complications in mothers and babies. Lack of access to caesarean section may result in increased maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity. However, rising caesarean section rates globally suggest overuse in healthy women and babies, with consequent iatrogenic damage for women and babies, and adverse impacts on the sustainability of maternity care provision. To date, interventions to ensure that caesarean section is appropriately used have not reversed the upward trend in rates. Qualitative evidenc

[Analysis of the long-term effects of COVID-19 infection (long-COVID) in Italy during and after the pandemic emergency and response strategy].

BACKGROUND: the long-COVID condition is gaining increasing relevance in terms of public health, but few studies have evaluated its impact on use of healthcare resources and the organizational responses of healthcare systems. Although many studies have evaluated case studies of individuals with long-COVID, the clinical spectrum of symptoms is still poorly defined due to the heterogeneity of the populations studied, the variability of the definitions used, and the absence of disease markers. In this context, in 2022, a project was designed and implemented in cooperation between the National Cent

Interventions to Promote Inclusive Governance for Underserved Populations in Sub-Saharan Africa: An Evidence and Gap Map.

BACKGROUND: Inclusive governance ensures that institutions, policies, and practices allow marginalized and underserved groups to participate meaningfully in decision-making at all levels. It is defined by equitable participation, transparency, accountability, responsiveness, and effectiveness. Historically, women, youth, ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities, and low-income rural and urban populations have faced exclusion due to structural inequalities and weak institutions, resulting in poverty, disempowerment, and social unrest. However, inclusive governance fosters peace, empowerment

Current and Future Oncology Management in the United States.

BACKGROUND: The cost of treating cancer patients is high and rising in the United States. Payers are exposed to cost through doctor visits, laboratory tests, imaging tests, radiation treatment, drugs, hospital stays, surgery, home care, transportation and travel, and caregiving. This study focuses on the cost of medication from the viewpoint of U.S. payers. Although new tools for managing these costs have been gaining attention, prices continue to rise, and challenges to managing costs remain high. Innovative tools are necessary for controlling the cost of care in oncology, but their effective

AI-Assisted Carotid Ultrasound for Nonexpert Use in Primary Care Cardiovascular Prevention: User-Centered Iterative Development Study.

BACKGROUND: Carotid ultrasound is traditionally confined to specialist settings because examination quality and diagnostic reliability are highly dependent on the operator's technical skill and experience. Recent advances in AI-assisted ultrasound may enable task shifting to primary care staff and support the integration of personalized visual risk communication into routine preventive care. Visualization of subclinical atherosclerosis has been shown to strengthen cardiovascular risk communication and support preventive engagement. However, limited evidence exists on how such technology can be

Assessing the feasibility of solar-powered digital health infrastructure in rural and peri-urban Kenya: a mixed-methods study.

BACKGROUND: Health systems in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) face persistent infrastructure constraints, particularly unreliable electricity and limited digital connectivity, that hinder the effective implementation of digital health interventions. These challenges are especially pronounced in rural and peri-urban settings, where facilities rely on unstable power sources and fragmented information systems. Although digital health technologies can strengthen health systems and improve care delivery, their effectiveness depends on reliable infrastructure. Integrating renewable energy w
