Adrenal myelolipoma is a benign tumour characterized by the presence of macroscopic fat. Further workup is not necessary if a diagnosis of adrenal myelolipoma is obtained via imaging. We report the first case of adrenal collision tumour comprised of adrenocortical carcinoma and myelolipoma in a patient with bilateral myelolipomas and congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Computed tomography showed a large right adrenal mass consisting of two different components: soft tissue with peripheral heterogeneous enhancement and macroscopic fat. Imaging findings reflected features of both adrenocortical carc

Crystalline-induced arthropathies impose substantial morbidity but can be challenging to diagnose, especially in early phases. The most common crystalline arthropathies are gout (monosodium urate deposition), calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate deposition, and hydroxyapatite deposition disease. Computed tomography (CT) and MR imaging provide 3-dimensional information on osseous structures, periarticular soft tissue, and tophi with superior spatial resolution. Dual-source CT (dual-energy CT [DECT]) offers the further advantage of selectively identifying crystalline deposits. CT, MR imaging, and DEC

Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is a malignant soft tissue tumor that exhibits smooth muscle differentiation, and its occurrence in the oral cavity is exceedingly rare, especially in the floor of mouth. A 54-year-old male was admitted for evaluation of a painless nodular mass in the left floor of mouth with a 3-month history. With the help of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination, the patient went on a surgery excision, and by pathological and immunohistochemical findings, a diagnoses of LMS was confirmed. Then the patient went on chemotherapy, and six-month follow up

We present a case of a 58 years old man with a large heterogeneous and well circumscribed soft tissue mass arising from the right pleural surface, found at a computer tomography of his chest. This mass after complete resection through a right lateral open thoracotomy, proved to be a Solitary Fibrous Tumor, previously known as 'benign mesothelioma'. This tumor is usually discovered at routine chest X-rays since patients are either asymptomatic or report atypical symptoms. Only 10-20% of the published cases report a malignant solitary fibrous tumor, however, definite diagnosis can only be made a

A 44-year-old female with diabetes and end-stage renal disease suffered a nondisplaced medial tibial plateau fracture after a ground-level fall. After open reduction and internal fixation, her popliteal artery and vein occluded at the level of the fracture. Review of the noncontrast computed tomography scan completed on initial arrival to the emergency department revealed a fracture in the calcified media of the popliteal artery at the level of the arterial occlusion. The propensity of different classes of tibial plateau fractures to be associated with soft-tissue and vascular injuries is exam

Sarcoidosis is a chronic multisystemic inflammatory disease characterized by noncaseating epithelioid cell granulomas. 18-Fluorodeoxyglucose positron-emission tomography/computer tomography (FDG-PET/CT) is increasingly used in routine clinical practice to assess active sarcoidosis because it can detect active inflammatory granulomatous disease. However, active sarcoidosis lesions are observed to be hypermetabolic on FDG-PET/CT much like malignancies, which may lead to misinterpretation on imaging. In this case report, we present a rare case of sarcoidosis with multisystem involvement including

An 8-year-old spayed female Netherland Dwarf rabbit presented with a two-month history of dyspnea and snoring. A computed tomography (CT) scan of the head revealed mass lesions in the right nasal cavity. Surgical exenteration of the lesions was performed, and the histopathological diagnosis was an intranasal adenocarcinoma. On the basis of this diagnosis, radiotherapy was planned and consisted of eight fractions of 6 Gy administered once a week. After the completion of radiation therapy, the soft tissue density in the right nasal cavity, as detected by CT, significantly decreased. The prognosi

Necrotizing fasciitis is a rare bacterial infection of the fascia and surrounding soft tissue, which carries a mortality rate as high as 20%, even in well-appearing patients [1]. Classically, this diagnosis must be made with computed tomography or magnetic resonance, but recent literature shows that ultrasonography, readily available in the emergency department, may be adequate for diagnosis [2]. We present a case of a 48-year-old man who presented with a painful rash. We used his clinical presentation and ultrasound to make the diagnosis, which was later corroborated with plain radiograph findi

A 10-year-old castrated Shih-Tzu male dog was referred for examination of acute right exophthalmos, protrusion of the third eyelid and soft tissue swelling ventral to the globe. Ultrasonography revealed echogenic fluid around the right globe. Computed tomography (CT) showed an enlarged right zygomatic salivary gland compared with the left zygomatic gland and an amorphous cystic mass ventral to the right globe. Hyperdense material, which we suspected to be a sialolith, was identified in the right zygomatic gland. The zygomatic gland and the cystic lesion were removed, and a zygomatic sialocele

We report a 57-year-old previously healthy man who presented with dull right upper quadrant pain, weight loss, fatigue, and night sweats. Computed tomography demonstrated a large, heterogeneously enhancing, soft tissue mass with no macroscopic fat above the right kidney with tumor thrombus extending into the inferior vena cava and right atrium. Positron Emission Tomography scanning demonstrated intense Fluorodeoxyglucose avidity in the primary tumor and tumor thrombus. The presumptive radiological diagnosis was adrenocortical carcinoma, but surgical pathology revealed a dedifferentiated liposa

We present a case of fatal cervical discoligamentous hyperextension injury without fracture. Postmortem computed tomography (PMCT) and postmortem magnetic resonance imaging (PMMRI) disclosed cervical instability and spinal cord injury in the absence of fracture, which was confirmed by autopsy. Cervical discoligamentous injury without fracture may be unnoticeable on PMCT because signs of cervical misalignment change depending on the posture of the neck at the time of postmortem imaging. Because of its greater sensitivity for soft tissue injury, PMMRI is especially useful for detecting pathologi

A 71-year-old female patient received a prothesis due to a cervical disc prolapsed and bleeding into the collar soft tissues occurred postoperatively. Following a computed tomography examination severe peracute respiratory decompensation occurred while administering topical anesthesia to the pharynx in order to perform fiber optic intubation. Endotracheal intubation using conventional laryngoscopy was unsuccessful and the patient required immediate cricothyroidotomy. As an on-site cricothyrotomy set to establish a secure airway was not available the decision was taken to perform surgical crico

BACKGROUND: Primary muscular hydatidosis is extremely rare, and the diagnosis of the infected muscular hydatid cyst can be difficult due to atypical clinical and radiological findings.
CASE REPORT: We present herein an interesting case of a 24-year-old man with primary infected muscular hydatid cyst located in the paraspinal muscles eroding the right lamina of C6 vertebra that was diagnosed with water lily sign on computed tomography.
CONCLUSION: Water lily sign is a pathognomonic imaging finding for hydatidosis, and defined when free-floating endocyst is seen. Cyst hydatid should always be

PURPOSE: To develop a computer simulation for customized soft contact lenses in order to correct aberrations of higher order.
METHODS: Using real data from a patient diagnosed with keratoconus, which were measured using a Hartmann-Shack wavefront sensor, the thickness of the contact lenses that compensate these aberrations as well the numbers of pulses required to ablate the lenses were specifically determined for the patient.
RESULTS: The maps of correction are presented and the numbers of pulses are calculated, using a 0.5 mm beam width and a 0.3 microm ablation depth.
CONCLUSIONS: The re

Injuries of the wrist are difficult to diagnose because of the complex and narrow anatomic structures. On the basis of precise clinical examination, X-rays, CT and MRI are valuable additional tools that can be used. In the case of bone injury, spiral computer tomography with multiplanar reformatting is currently the method of choice. MRI is indicated for the identification of soft tissue or ligamentous injury and avital fragments or necrosis. Other diagnostic tools for the wrist are currently of minor importance. Technical and methodological innovations allow ever better visualisation and clas

Lymphoreticular neoplasms primarily arise in extraskeletal locations with skeletal involvement usually secondary to hematogenous spread or by direct invasion from surrounding involved lymph nodes or soft tissues. Primary lymphoma of bone is relatively rare in comparison. Lymphoma encompasses Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's disease, Burkitt's lymphoma, and mycosis fungoides. Skeletal disease may present with symptoms localized to the site of bone involvement, as an incidental finding on imaging for other reasons, or as part of the staging of the disease. It is important that the radiologist is cogn

The paper deals with the examination of computed tomograms of 72 patients (90 orbits), including 29 males (36 orbits) and 43 females (54 orbits), who had no any orbital pathology. The patients' age ranged from 34 to 65 years. Data on the volume of the bony orbit and its soft tissue contents are given. The dimensions of the transversal opening to the orbit and its depth are shown. The volumes of all the ocular muscles (extraocular muscles, the elevator muscle of the upper eyelid), optic nerve, eyeball, and ocular fat are separately calculated. These indices may be used for both the differential

Hypogenetic lung syndrome is more popularly known as a scimitar syndrome (SS). It is a rare developmental lung malformation which almost always occurs on the right side. The two most constant features of this syndrome are anomalous pulmonary venous return into systemic circulation, most frequently via inferior vena cava (IVC), and lung hypoplasia. We are reporting such a case illustrating most typical and some uncommon features on chest radiograph and multislice computer tomography (MSCT) of chest. Focal herniation of liver through a diaphragmatic defect presenting as an ovoid soft tissue mass

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) employs the nuclear resonance phenomenon to produce images of living tissues. Unlike computed tomography (CT), which relies solely on differences in the propensity of tissues to absorb X-rays to produce various contrasts, MRI offers a wide variety of pulse sequences, each of which exploits differences in the magnetic properties of protons in living tissue to produce contrast resolution. When optimal protocols are used, MRI contrast resolution in the orbital soft tissues is superior to that provided by any other imaging modality. Other advantages of MRI over CT

A 23-year-old male known to have an asymptomatic mediastinal mass for four years was admitted due to progressive pitting edema of his arms and legs lasting for one week. The edema subsided prior to surgical extirpation of the left paraspinal mass. Initially recognized radiologically as a well-defined soft tissue mass with mottled calcification, on operation the mass was seen to be two well-encapsulated ganglioneuromas. Another small, round, nodular lesion abutted the contralateral side of the vertebral body on a computed tomographic scan of the chest. The postoperative course was unremarkable
