Life's Essential 8 and Incident Cardiovascular Disease: Validation Using Real World Data from Consumer Devices in the All of Us Research Program.

BACKGROUND: The Life's Essential 8 (LE8) metric is a well-validated tool to assess cardiovascular health. The tool relies on self-reported physical activity (PA) and sleep data which may be subject to recall bias when compared with objective device-derived data. We used objectively captured device data from Fitbit devices linked to the electronic health record (EHR) from the All of Us Research Program (AoURP) to examine the association between LE8 and incident cardiovascular disease (CVD). METHODS: We analyzed AoURP participants with ≥6 months of Fitbit-derived PA and sleep data from 2009 to

Caregiver-reported experience of integrated care for children with special health care needs and its sociodemographic, health- and network-related correlates in Germany: Cross-sectional results from the PART-CHILD cohort.

BACKGROUND: Children with special health care needs (CSHCN) often rely on cross-sectoral care networks involving medical, therapeutic, educational, and social services. However, key dimensions of integrated care, including cross-sectoral communication and attention to family impact, remain challenging. Understanding factors that shape caregiver-reported experience of integrated care can inform program development to strengthen integrated care. We aimed (1) to quantify caregiver-reported experience of integrated care and (2) to examine associations between dimensions of caregiver-reported exper

Risk-stratified Care Improves Pain-related Knowledge and Reduces Psychological Distress for Low Back Pain: A Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Trial.

BACKGROUND: A number of efforts have been made to tailor behavioral healthcare treatments to the variable needs of patients with low back pain (LBP). The most common approach involves the STarT Back Screening Tool (SBST) to triage the need for psychologically informed care, which explores concerns about pain and addresses unhelpful beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors. Such beliefs that pain always signifies injury or tissue damage and that exercise should be avoided have been implied as psychosocial mediators of chronic pain and can impede recovery. The ability of physical therapy interventions

Emotion Processing in Schizophrenia: Insights From a Brain Imaging Study Comparing Patients, Siblings, and Healthy Controls.

Abnormal facial emotion recognition has been proposed as a potential endophenotype for schizophrenia, as both patients with schizophrenia and their healthy relatives show difficulties in recognizing negative facial emotions. In psychiatric disorders, brain functioning is considered highly informative for endophenotype research. However, recent studies have raised questions about our current understanding of the neural correlates of emotion recognition across the schizophrenia spectrum, pointing out two major limitations in previous research. First, individual fMRI studies and meta-analyses hav

Caring for Service Members Who Have Been Sexually Assaulted: The Military Health System.

INTRODUCTION: Reports of sexual assault (SA) in the U.S. Military have increased in recent years. Given the deleterious effects of military SA, there remains a need for large-scale studies to assess SA-related health care utilization among active duty service members (ADSMs). The present study, therefore, utilized Military Health System (MHS) data to determine the prevalence of SA-related care, sociodemographic characteristics of ADSMs receiving said care, and the type of provider seen during the initial SA-related health encounter. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Utilizing the MHS Data Repository and
