Anti-TNF-α agents are currently utilised for the treatment of a vast array of autoimmune conditions including inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and psoriasis. Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), or erythema multiforme, is a severe, acute, adverse, cutaneous reaction to certain medications, such as phenytoin and topical nitrogen mustard. The risk of developing SJS is high when phenytoin and steroids are administered during cranial irradiation. SJS produces headache, malaise, sore throat, fever, and sloughing of the skin and mucous membranes. Prompt recognition of SJS and withdrawal of the offending medication is key to treating this disorder. Nurses play an important role in assessing patients and educating them about signs and symptoms of SJS.

We describe a patient with discoid lupus erythematosus who developed annular lesions of the thigh and chilblainlike lesions of the fingers matching those described in the original reports of Rowell's syndrome. The patient also had circulating anti-Ro(SS-A) antibodies whose similarity to the anti-Sj-T antibodies found in the original Rowell's syndrome cases has been recently claimed. A review of the literature suggests that most of the cases of Rowell's syndrome described thus far in fact may be cases of coincidental association of lupus erythematosus and erythema multiforme.

Cytophotometry has been used to study DNA content in oral epithelial cells of Feulgen-stained specimens from a total of 43 patients: 3 with erythema exudativum multiforme (EEM), 5 with pemphigus, 3 with stomatitis aphtosa, 5 with lichen ruber planus, 8 with leukoplakia, and 19 with carcinomas. We report a 31-year-old male patient suffering from Sweet's syndrome. The particularities of the case are the long period between onset of the disease and establishment of the diagnosis-the cutaneous lesions having persisted all the time, and the marked persistence of postlesional erythemas showing positive improvement by means of selective ultraviolet phototherapy (SUP).
