The usefulness of In-111-labelled platelets and lymphocyte scintigraphy in acute kidney graft rejection is evaluated. One hundred fifty-five patients (36 treated with cyclosporine A) were studied with labelled platelets and 27 with labelled lymphocytes. Interpretation of the posterior view of an 111In-labelled leucocyte scan is difficult when infection is suspected in that region of the spine overlaid by the left lobe of the liver. A case is reported of the successful localisation of infection in this region by combining an 111In-labelled leucocyte scan with a 99mTc-tin colloid scan in a dual radionuclide subtraction technique.

In 50 patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) the findings on lumbar isotope cisternography (IGG) were compared to the conductance to outflow of CSF (Cout) as measured by lumbo-ventricular perfusion. The purpose was to identify those ICG-characteristics that imply a low Cout and thus may indicate CSF shunting therapy. Normal ICG was found only in three patients, where Cout was not, or only moderately, decreased. There was a significant correlation between a low Cout and occurrence of ventricular retention and absent parasagittal accumulation at 24 hours or later, following injection.

The results which have been presented give clear evidence to the presence of an antigen(s) on the cementum of teeth exposed to a periodontal pocket, which is capable of reacting with human serum antibody. It was not possible to demonstrate human antibody reactivity against any components derived from the cementum of completely unexposed bony impacted teeth. Regardless of any speculations dealing with the character or origin of such antigens, their very presence would suggest they may have profound implications in the etiology and progression of the periodontal disease process.

By quantitative cisternography using a stationary detector system with correction for tissue background, an exponential elimination of 131I-HSA from the basal cisterns was demonstrated, allowing calculation of a biologic half time (BHT) of the clearance curve of a satisfactory level of reproducibility. The stability constant, diffusion coefficient and effective charge of the complex as well as the temperature dependence of the electrophoretic mobility were determined.
