Contributions of the Project Competence Longitudinal Study (PCLS) to resilience science and developmental psychopathology are highlighted in this article. Initiated by Norman Garmezy, the PCLS contributed models, measures, and methods, as well as working definitions of concepts like competence, developmental tasks, protective factors, and resilience. PURPOSE: To review the literature on the consequences of having a chronic disease on the child's functioning in daily life.
METHOD: A wide search of the literature resulted in the location of around 200 empirical studies with a focus on chronically ill children. This body of literature is discussed in three parts: (1) the academic and psychosocial adjustment of chronically ill children, (2) the ways chronically ill children cope with disease-related stress and other stressors, and (3) the effectiveness of coping strategies.

This narrative article on coping with tinnitus has four primary objectives. First, theoretical perspectives about defining and categorizing coping are discussed. Second, an overview of the empirical research on coping with tinnitus is provided, focusing on how coping with tinnitus has been measured and on the trends that were found in research on coping with tinnitus. Third, the problems related to the current state of research on coping with tinnitus are highlighted. Fourth, suggestions are provided on ways that researchers can improve research on coping with tinnitus.

The existence of differences in the psychological profile of 39 endoscopically evaluated patients with ulcer (U) and non ulcer (NU) dyspepsia were examined. There were 21 U and 18 NU subjects.
