Contact allergies to orthopaedic implant material are discussed to be relevant for postoperative complaints. We aimed at determining the prevalence of sensitizations to implant metals and to bone cements in patients with implants. We investigated 13 consecutive patients with suspicion of contact allergy to implant material. Epicutaneous patch testing was performed with metals and bone cement components including benzoyl peroxide (BPO). The scales are collected by pressing small pieces of scotch tape (about 4 cm length and 2 cm width) onto the lesions and following withdrawal the furfuraceous scales will remain on the glue side. Hair products are commonly used to maintain hair health or cosmesis. Products applied to the scalp and hair contain multiple active and inactive ingredients that can potentially cause irritant and/or allergic contact dermatitis. The objectives of this study were to identify and to discuss the most common allergens in scalp and hair applied products causing scalp allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). At 16 different dermatology clinics in Scandinavia from 1980-1985, photopatch testing was performed on 1993 patients with suspected photodermatosis. Glycosides are ubiquitous plant secondary metabolites consisting of a non-sugar component called an aglycone, attached to one or more sugars. One of the most interesting aglycones in grapes and wine is methyl salicylate (MeSA), an organic ester naturally produced by many plants, particularly wintergreens. The aim of this study is to find out the causes of skin diseases in one-third of the staff of a perfume factory, in which 10 different perfume sprays were being manufactured. Site inspection, dermatological examination and patch testing of all 26 persons at risk with 4 perfume oils and 30 ingredients of them. The results showed 6 bottlers were found suffering from allergic contact dermatitis, 2 from irritant contact dermatitis, 12 workers showed different strong reactions to various fragrances. BACKGROUND: Peel oil from citrus fruits consists of R-(+)-limonene, which is one of the most commonly used fragrance materials in technical products and in fine fragrances. This substance forms allergenic oxidation products during handling and storage.

A history of respiratory or other allergic symptoms during the Christmas season is occasionally obtained from allergic patients and can be related to exposure to conifers at home or in school. Incidence and mechanism of production of these symptoms were studied. Of 1657 allergic patients, respiratory and skin allergies to conifers occurred in 7%. The aim of this study was to describe a new species of Didymozoidae (Trematoda) found in the mesentery of Euthynnus alletteratus (Rafinesque) off Cabo Frio, in the coastal area of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Selective enhancement of wine aroma was achieved using a broad spectrum of exogenous glycosidases.
