In this study we evaluated the potential of expanded NK cells (eNKs) from two sources combined with the mAbs daratumumab and pembrolizumab to target primary multiple myeloma (MM) cells ex vivo. In order to ascertain the best source of NK cells, we expanded and activated NK cells from peripheral blood (PB) of healthy adult donors and from umbilical cord blood (UCB). In this manuscript for the "Highlights of 2024" series, this is me trying to summarize recent discoveries regarding the emerging regulatory and effector roles of γδ T cells during sepsis, both in human patients and in mouse models. The new findings not only aid our understanding of key immunological and pathophysiological pathways that hit differently during the course of the disease but may also have clinical relevance for a life-threatening condition that requires swift intervention and tailored patient management.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate whether mean platelet volumes and leukocyte counts are altered significantly in patients with tubal ectopic pregnancy (TEP).
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Retrospective analysis of mean platelet volumes and leukocyte counts of 138 TEP patients, diagnosed between 2005 and 2012, and the control group consisting of 72 pregnants was performed. Myeloid and plasmacytoid dendritic cells (MDCs, PDCs) play a key role in the initiation of immune responses.
