Simultaneous bilateral spontaneous pneumothorax (SBSP) is a very rare type of pneumothorax. Most reported cases are associated with underlying lung diseases. In a small number of pediatric studies, SBSP was found to be associated with human bocavirus bronchiolitis, Langerhans cell histiocytosis, and Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection. The present work examines an interesting case of type 2 congenital pulmonary airway malformation presenting with SBSP and bilateral multiple parenchymal cysts.

As part of an ongoing effort to generate complete genome sequences of hand, foot and mouth disease-causing enteroviruses directly from clinical specimens, two complete coding sequences and two partial genomic sequences of human bocavirus 1 (n=3) and 2 (n=1) were co-amplified and sequenced, representing the first genome sequences of human bocaviruses from Vietnam. Viruses are prominent causative agents of acute gastroenteritis in children <5 years of age per year. In the present review, all viral gastroenteritis studies in Iran were assessed, and the mean prevalences of rotaviruses, noroviruses, enteric adenoviruses, sapoviruses and astroviruses associated with acute gastroenteritis were 39.9%, 6%, 5.7%, 4.2% and 2.7%, respectively. In 2 studies, human bocavirus and human parechovirus were detected in 21.8% and 23.7% of children with acute gastroenteritis, respectively.

The etiological structure of influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections including their rate of incidence in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region during 4 epidemic seasons has been studied. Seasonality of some respiratory viruses was shown and peaks of circulation of RSV, adenovirus, parainfluenza viruses, rhinovirus, bocavirus, metapneumovirus and coronavirus were marked.
