A case of a carcinosarcoma which developed in a Barrett's oesophagus is presented. The tumour consisted of an adenocarcinoma and a spindle cell sarcoma. Immunohistological examinations demonstrated vimentin positivity in the sarcomatous portion with a negative reaction for keratin. Immunohistological and histological findings did not rule out the possibility of a double or collision tumour in this case.

The present case is an autopsy case of a 66-year-old male who developed a collision tumor in the stomach which originated from carcinosarcoma of Borrmann type II in the gastric antrum and from papillary adenocarcinoma of Borrmann type III in the corpus. The carcinosarcoma consisted of tubular carcinoma and sarcomatous transformation of stroma from the carcinoma.

The strain of Walker carcinosarcoma 256 described induces hypercalcaemia, hyperphosphataemia and hyperuraemia in tumour bearing rats. Changes in calcium and phosphorus excretion are observed as well as accompanying calcification of soft tissue organs and loss of bone calcium. These changes in calcium metabolism disappear after removal of the tumour, so that long-range action of the tumour can be stated. The results are discussed in comparison with three other animal models of tumour dependent hypercalcaemia.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Gallbladder carcinosarcoma (GBCS) is a rare and aggressive biliary tract malignancy, constituting approximately 1.7% of gallbladder cancers, with fewer than 100 cases reported in the English literature as of 2023. These tumors, often affecting gynecological organs, feature both carcinomatous and sarcomatous components. They predominantly occur in females, with a mean presentation age of 66 years. Cervical carcinosarcoma is a very rare tumour, with less than 70 cases described in the literature. We report a case of a woman in her 60s, with an atypical presentation: a single episode of high volume serous vaginal discharge. A carcinosarcoma of the uterine cervix was diagnosed and, after exclusion of distant disease, the patient was submitted to radical surgery. Due to surgical complications adjuvant treatment was not performed.

Most studies are case reports or small population-based studies for a single disease site, so comprehensive evaluations of epidemiology and prognostic factors for carcinosarcoma are needed.

We report a case of a 62-year-old man with epistaxis and right-sided nasal obstruction. Nasal endoscopy revealed an exophytic mass arising from the anterior septum that extended posteriorly to the osteo-meatal complex. Excision with endoscopic sinus surgery was performed. Carcinosarcoma was diagnosed based on histopathology and immunohistochemical studies. The patient declined surgery and opted for chemoradiation therapy for the residual tumor.
