Solcoderm, a new topical agent, was used in the treatment of genital and anal cutaneous condylomata in 11 patients. This is a relatively inexpensive form of treatment, which may be used in any office practice setting with no need for anesthesia and very few side effects. The success rate of 100% warrants its further use in the treatment of this disease entity.

A case of a 16-month-old child who had had perianal condylomata acuminata since the age of 3 months, born to a 20-year-old mother who had had extensive anorectal and vulvovaginal condylomas during her pregnancy and delivery, is presented. The probable mode of transmission of the condyloma virus and its application to this case are discussed.

Genital warts (condylomata acuminata) are caused by human papilloma viruses (HPV) and usually are transmitted sexually. These lesions often increase in size during pregnancy and can pose some problems in the therapeutic management on one hand; vaginal labor can expose the new-born baby to the risk of contamination with HPV (estimated at 4%), on the other hand. Starting from 15 cases, the authors tried to show the clinical, therapeutic and prognosis distinctive features of this association.

A 50-year-old female developed extensive condylomata acuminata in the genitoanal region over a period of 12 years. She presented with multiple, verrucous lesions involving the whole genitoanal area plus the adjacent perineum and gluteal region which made it impossible to identify the anatomical structures. Pemphigus vegetans is a rare variant of pemphigus vulgaris, characterized by vegetating lesions primarily in the flexures. A 41-year-old male patient presented with pemphigus vegetans highly mimicking condylomata acuminata, which led to mistreatment. Careful analysis of clinical and laboratory findings enabled us to reach a correct diagnosis and successful treatment.
