We report a case of a 58-year-old male with cirrhosis and upper gastrointestinal bleeding who developed multiple lipiodol pulmonary emboli after endoscopic injection sclerotherapy for gastric variceal bleeding. The patient did not have any respiratory symptoms after the sclerotherapy. A chest radiograph, obtained 1 day after the procedure for the evaluation of fever, demonstrated multiple tubular radiopacities in both hilar regions. Thirty one cases of patients affected by skull lesions are reported: 25 fractures of the frontal sinus, two fractures of ethmoidal bone, two fractures of the floor of the anterior cranial fossa, one fracture of the petrous bone, one opening of the mastoid cells. Five of these patients presented a cerebrospinal fluid fistula. All the patients were surgically treated with a mixture of autogenous sawdust and butyl-2-cyanoacrylate with favorable results in thirty cases. It was necessary to repeat the treatment only in one case and the patient recovered completely.

OBJECTIVE: Postoperative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak after schwannoma surgery occurs in up to 10% of patients. Conventional surgical treatment including fat and muscle packing can prove unsuccessful. We describe a minimally invasive, imaging-guided approach to CSF fistula treatment.

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE: To add to the current literature on single stage excision of head and neck vascular malformations with preoperative n-butyl cyanoacrylate (n-BCA) glue. A stump neuroma is caused by the disorganised growth of axon cylinders into proliferating granulation tissue, but this is stopped by an undamaged epineural sleeve. We report experiments in the rat in which the epineural sleeve of the stump of the sciatic nerve was freed from nerve fascicles for about 5 mm and then sealed with a synthetic tissue adhesive.
