This study reported the development of a composite sponge (ACATS) based on alkylated chitosan (AC) and attapulgite (AT) for rapid hemostasis. The well-designed ACATS, with an optimal AC N-alkylation of 5.9 % and an optimal AC/AT mass ratio of 3:1, exhibited a hierarchical porous structure with a favorable biocompatibility.
