A 10-year-old boy suffered a large, oblique anterior capsular tear following blunt injury to his right eye. The boy was followed daily for hyphema resolution and progressive traumatic cataract formation. After the hyphema had resolved, the lens was removed using an anterior approach and an intraocular lens was placed with excellent visual outcome.

PURPOSE: The Hydrus microstent was approved by the FDA in August 2018 for use with cataract surgery to reduce IOP in patients with mild to moderate primary open angle glaucoma (POAG). Pivotal clinical trials demonstrated its overall safety and efficacy in lowering IOP. However, malpositioning of the implant can result in uveitis-glaucoma-hyphema (UGH) syndrome necessitating device explantation. Here we report four such cases and their associated challenges. We also highlight the importance of early recognition of post-operative complications for ease of implant removal.

A 64-year-old man had vascular ingrowth of a surgical wound resulting in recurrent hyphema and pupillary block glaucoma three years after cataract extraction. Argon laser photocoagulation of an abnormal vessel in the inner lip of the wound resulted in complete clearing of a chronic hyphema, with a four-month follow-up. We used 500-micron laser spots of 2,000 mW and 0.5 seconds' duration to closr the vessels. This approach is recommended for its relative safety and simplicity.

AIM: The aim of this report is to explore the risk factors of XEN stent obstruction, suggesting the need for a stricter control of these factors and highlighting areas for further research.
BACKGROUND: Despite its proven effectiveness and safety profile, XEN gel stents (Allergan Plc, Dublin, Ireland) can become obstructed. The causes and predicting factors for such obstructions still require further research. PURPOSE: To report the case of a patient with corneal blood staining after a complicated cataract surgery.
OBSERVATIONS: We report on a 68-year-old woman who developed corneal blood staining secondary to hyphema after cataract surgery, despite the fact that intraocular pressure was not increased for a prolonged time. The corneal staining spontaneously cleared from the periphery towards the center. It was fully resolved after 2.5 years of follow-up.

Specular microscopy of central corneal endothelium was performed on 26 patients with a history of blunt uniocular trauma with hyphema. Compared with the uninjured fellow eye, the injured eye had a mean decrease in endothelial cell density (ECD) of 6.4%. Trabeculectomy was performed in 466 glaucomatous eyes of 342 patients. Of these eyes, 54% appeared to have lens opacities. However, 35% of these cases had the cataract preoperatively and in 19% the cataractous changes appeared to develop postoperatively. The risk of development of posttrabeculectomy cataract seemed to increase with patient age.
