A case report of an effective treatment for diabetic foot ulcers with integration of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine.

Diabetes contributes 75-85% of the factors predisposing to foot amputations, usually in association with infection and gangrene. The treatment of foot ulcers is expensive, and the effectiveness of treatment varies. We report herein a case of a diabetic foot ulcer that was treated with integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, with desirable cost-effective results. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapeutic principles include improving the spleen, nourishing yin, regulating qi, and resolving dampness, as well as activating stagnant blood. Western medicine includes wound debrideme

Integrating Western medicine and Traditional Chinese medicine in GP surgeries and the community: a review of the two pilot schemes.

The popularity of complementary medicine has been relentless over the past decade. Among the most popular are Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which has a long and unbroken history. This article reports on two integrated health care pilot schemes where TCM and Western medicine are merged, to varying degrees, for the benefits of patients. One of the schemes focuses on general medicine whilst the other focuses on mental health. The authors conclude that the integrated schemes have many advantages and, on the whole, are beneficial for patients. The issues involved and learning points are discus

Clinical evidence on integrated Chinese-Western medicine for primary dysmenorrhea.

BACKGROUND: Primary dysmenorrhea (PD), a common gynecological disorder, adversely affects the quality of life, mental health, and overall well-being of many young women. Given concerns about adverse effects of some Western medications, Chinese medicine (CM) and integrated Chinese-Western medicine (ICWM) approaches have gained attention. This study aims to systematically identify PD-related clinical evidence on CM and ICWM treatments, appraise and categorize the evidence by study design, and provide evidence summaries based on pre-defined clinical questions to inform evidence-based practice. [Translational Research in Brain Tumors:Development towards Integrated Precision Medicine].

Translational research on malignant brain tumors provide a bidirectional framework that links basic science with clinical practice to advance precision medicine. Despite progress in surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and molecular classification, outcomes remain poor, particularly for diffuse high-grade gliomas, because of treatment resistance, intratumoral heterogeneity, and the limited clinical implementation of molecular insights. Recent advances have highlighted the value of integrating intraoperative molecular diagnostics, molecular imaging, and patient-derived models into a unified tra

Integrating digital and narrative medicine in modern healthcare: a systematic review.

The increasing integration of digital technologies in healthcare, such as electronic health records, telemedicine, and diagnostic algorithms, improved efficiency but raised concerns about the depersonalization of care. Narrative medicine has emerged as a pedagogical and clinical response to this shift, emphasizing the value of patient stories, socio-cultural contexts, and reflective practice. Understanding how digital tools support, rather than undermine, narrative competencies is critical for developing a more human-centered healthcare education. This review systematically examined empirical

Systems medicine and the integration of bioinformatic tools for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.

Because of the changes in demographic structure, the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease is expected to rise dramatically over the next decades. The progression of this degenerative and terminal disease is gradual, with the subclinical stage of illness believed to span several decades. Despite this, no therapy to prevent or cure Alzheimer's disease is currently available. Early disease detection is still important for delaying the onset of the disease with pharmacological treatment and/or lifestyle changes, assessing the efficacy of potential therapeutic agents, or monitoring disease progression

Network medicine informed multiomics integration identifies drug targets and repurposable medicines for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a devastating, immensely complex neurodegenerative disease by lack of effective treatments. We developed a network medicine methodology via integrating human brain multi-omics data to prioritize drug targets and repurposable treatments for ALS. We leveraged non-coding ALS loci effects from genome-wide associated studies (GWAS) on human brain expression quantitative trait loci (QTL) (eQTL), protein QTL (pQTL), splicing QTL (sQTL), methylation QTL (meQTL), and histone acetylation QTL (haQTL). Using a network-based deep learning framework, we identified 105

Redesigning medicine: integrating sex and gender for better health outcomes.

Both the biological sex and the socio-cultural gender play a central role in medical care, influencing diagnosis, disease progression, and treatment decisions. Despite well-established and substantial differences between men and women, sex-specific differentiation in guidelines, and dosing protocols remain limited. This gap in care has deep historical roots: for decades, women were systematically excluded from clinical trials resulting in a pronounced sex bias in medical research. Although recent efforts have been made to address these inequalities, women are still under-represented in many cl

Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis: the role of personalized and integrated medicine.

Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis (CRSwNP) is a common disorder. From a clinical and immunopathological point of view, different phenotypes and endotypes have been identified. As asthma is frequent comorbidity, biological agents for treating CRSwNP associated with asthma may be an attractive strategy. Biological agents have several mechanisms, such as antagonizing IgE, interleukin (IL) 4, IL-5, and IL-13. However, a workup is mandatory, mainly concerning pheno-endotyping. In this regard, clinical cytological grading (CCG) has been proposed as a useful tool to manage patients with CRS

Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis (CRSwNP) is a frequent disorder. From a clinical and an immunopathological point of view, different phenotypes and endotypes have been identified. The frequent comorbidity with asthma allowed to pave the way to the use of biological agents for the treatment of CRSwNP. Biological agents are targeted to antagonize IgE, interleukin (IL) 4, IL-5, and IL-13 at present. However, a correct and appropriate workup is mandatory, mainly concerning the exact definition of the specific pheno-endotype. The preliminary outcomes are promising, even though there is a
