UNLABELLED: Interleukin-2 (IL2) binds with high affinity to the IL2 receptors overexpressed on activated T lymphocytes in various pathologic conditions. Radiolabeling of IL2 with a positron-emitting isotope could provide a tool for noninvasive PET of activated T cells in immune-mediated diseases. We report the labeling of IL2 with N-succinimidyl 4-(18)F-fluorobenzoate ((18)F-SFB) for the synthesis of N-(4-(18)F-fluorobenzoyl)interleukin-2 ((18)F-FB-IL2) and the in vitro and in vivo evaluation of this novel radiopharmaceutical for the detection of IL2 receptor-positive cells by PET.

The TH cytokine responses of spleen cells stimulated with Con A from mice infected with Paragonimus westermani were examined.
