BACKGROUND: Glaucoma, the silent thief of sight, is one of the most common vision-threatening conditions. Even though POAG (primary open angle glaucoma) is more common, PACG (primary angle closure glaucoma) is the dreaded variant. ISGEO (International Society for Geographical and Epidemiological Ophthalmology) has classified primary angle closure as PACS (primary angle closure suspect), PAC (primary angle closure), and PACG (primary angle closure glaucoma. The inconspicuous nature of PACS makes its diagnosis and treatment very tricky.

PURPOSE: To determine the need to measure intraocular pressure one hour after laser peripheral iridotomy in patients with narrow angles, to determine the significance of the immediate IOP spike after LPI, and to assess risk factors associated with these.
METHODS: A review of the literature on IOP measurements after LPI was conducted using the PubMed databases in January 2020.

Acquired lens colobomas secondary to ocular surgeries are scarcely described in the literature. We describe two cases of acquired lens coloboma in two infants with glaucoma who underwent ocular surgery. A 20-year-old woman was noted to have progressive cataractous changes in the left eye for two years. We analyzed the long-term results after argon laser peripheral iridotomy in 98 eyes of 54 patients with primary angle closure glaucoma. During a mean follow-up period of about five years, visual acuity, intraocular pressure, medication changes, and the need for filtration surgery or cataract surgery were used to evaluate the amount of possible damage that had resulted from laser iridotomy. Late-onset angle-closure glaucoma secondary to retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) occurred in ten eyes of ten patients. The age at presentation ranged from 12 to 45 years (mean, 32 years).
