BACKGROUND: Several studies with optical coherence tomography (OCT) have demonstrated thinning of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) in patients with optic neuritis and multiple sclerosis. Similar studies have not been performed with scanning laser polarimetry (SLP), which relies on different physical phenomena.
