Barrett's oesophagus is a condition where the distal oesophagus is lined with columnar epithelium. For the diagnosis intestinal metaplasia has to be found and a minimal length of 3 cm is required for the columnar-lined segment. We report a case of a pedunculated adenomyoma with osseous metaplasia, which mimics a dermoid cyst on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) making it a considerable differential diagnosis. Being one of the commonest tumors of the female genital tract during the reproductive years, the leiomyoma uteri expectedly demonstrates a wide spectrum of histological variations. However, heterologous tissue differentiation is a rare finding and frank bone formation is even rarer. The factors that lead to heterologous tissue formation in a leiomyoma are subject to speculation. This is a rare case report and possibly the first, on the formation of pure mature bone in a uterine leiomyoma.

A 33-year-old male patient presented with a 1.5-cm polypoid lesion at the edge of the urethral meatus that showed a gross appearance similar to that of a urethral caruncle in the female. The histological features revealed a superficially ulcerated lesion composed of colonic-type mucosal glands with focal regenerative atypia. This case appears to be the first reported one on an intestinal-type polyp in this site. The patient had no further problems after excisional biopsy.

The gallbladder specimens of patients who underwent cholecystectomy for symptomatic gallstones between 2003 and 2005 were evaluated for the presence of Intestinal Metaplasia.
