OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the role of multidetector computed tomography (CT) and CT angiography (CTA) in post cholecystectomy complications.
METHODS: A retrospective analysis of data from December 2012 to August 2014 was performed. Eight hundred sixty consecutive patients with history of cholecystectomy (laparoscopic or open) were evaluated. After exclusion of 645 patients with normal imaging, analysis for post cholecystectomy complications was performed in 215 patients. A contrast enhanced CT/CTA was performed. OBJECTIVES: Patients with prosthetic heart valves may require assessment for coronary artery disease. We assessed whether valve artefacts hamper coronary artery assessment by multidetector CT.
METHODS: ECG-gated or -triggered CT angiograms were selected from our PACS archive based on the presence of prosthetic heart valves. The best systolic and diastolic axial reconstructions were selected for coronary assessment. Each present coronary segment was scored for the presence of valve-related artefacts prohibiting coronary artery assessment. Scoring was performed in consensus by two observers.

We present the case of a 46-year-old male patient with known history of coronary artery disease and recurrent episodes of angina pectoris. Coronary angiography revealed two vessels originating from the right coronary sinus. However, a clear distinction between a double RCA and a high take off of a large right ventricular branch could not be made. Contrast-enhanced MDCT was performed on a 16-row scanner which clearly depicted cardiac anatomy and finally established the diagnosis of a double RCA. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a true double RCA diagnosed by MDCT.
