The reactions of Ln[N(SiMe3)2]3 (Ln = Eu, Sm, Yb) with chloroform yield the [Ln{N(SiMe3)2}2(μ-Cl)(NCSiMe3)]2 (Ln = Eu(1), Sm(2)) and Yb[N(SiMe3)2]3(NCSiMe3)2 (3) complexes, all of which contain two neutral Me3SiCN ligands. The unexpected formation of the Me3SiCN ligand represents a rare example of nitrile formation through the insertion of dichlorocarbene into the Si-N bond.

Theoretical calculations at the G4MP2 level of theory demonstrate that it is possible to activate dinitrogen to make it react in dipolar cycloadditions using neutral beryllium derivatives and other neutral metallic compounds. For the particular case of beryllium, the barrier decreases more than 40 kJ·mol-1 with respect to the non-catalysed reaction. The activation achieved is lower than using diazonium salts (models of protonated N2), but still in a range that can be experimentally attainable.

A strictly conserved active site arginine residue (αR157) and two histidine residues (αH80 and αH81) located near the active site of the Fe-type nitrile hydratase from Comamonas testosteroni Ni1 (CtNHase), were mutated. A convenient protocol for the synthesis of 5,6-dihydropyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinolines with various electron-withdrawing substituents at C-2 atom is described. This approach is based on the two-component domino reaction of 1-aroyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinolines with α,β-unsaturated ketones, nitroalkenes and acrylonitrile. Depending on the selected substrates, the reaction was performed in TFE under reflux or under microwave irradiation. Only for the two examples, a transition metal catalyst was used.

The title compound, [RuCl2(C6H4N2)4]·0.5C7H8, resulted from the reaction of four equivalents of pcp (pyridine-4-carbonitrile) with ruthenium(II) chloride to form a propeller-like arrangement, which is positioned along the twofold axis of the C2/c space group. The packing of the complex in the structure, resulting from the overlap at the carbonitrile groups of the complexes, results in a grid-like assembly with Ru⋯Ru diagonal distances of 17.0973 (9) and 20.0289 (5) Å, and a near 50% calculated void volume.

Rubber sealing materials' aging behavior under challenging circumstances, such as high temperatures, oxygen exposure, or oil immersion, significantly effects how well they seal and how long they last. In order to systematically examine nitrile rubber's aging behavior and the evolution of mechanical properties under thermo-oxidative and thermo-oil conditions, this study used accelerated high-temperature aging tests.
