Seven children with malignant mesothelioma have been seen at Memorial Hospital since 1953. In six, the origin was at the pleura and in one at the peritoneum. None of the patients related a history of exposure to asbestos. Two patients lived more than five years. The other five patients died within two years of the diagnosis. Distant metastases were seen in four of the patients, including three who had metastases to brain. Surgery or radiotherapy were not effective in controlling the disease in most of the patients. Semen Ziziphus jujube (SZJ) has been widely consumed because it is recognized as edible in China to treat insomnia disorders. Mycosis fungoides is a rare malignant lymphoma that primarily affects the skin. Lymph node and visceral involvement may follow. In this study 12 patients with mycosis fungoides were treated with whole body topical application of HN2. In addition 4 of these patients had gauzes moistened with the same HN2 solution placed upon plaques and tumours. 4 patients developed in allergic contact dermatitis, and this complication was overcome by percutaneous desensitizing in 3 of them. PURPOSE: Immune hemolytic anemia (IHA) may complicate the course of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), especially in patients with advanced disease, and as a complication of treatment with chlorambucil or fludarabine. Bendamustine, a novel agent with both alkylating and purine-analog properties, was approved in the USA for use in CLL in 2008. Since then, clinical data on its adverse events are accumulating. IHA related to bendamustine was seldom described and is thus reported and reviewed.

In conjunction with autologous bone marrow rescue, high-dose mitozolomide was given i.v. to 16 patients with refractory malignancies at doses ranging from 100 to 400 mg/m2 over 1 h. Neutropaenia occurred consistently at 300 mg/m2, and three trivial infective episodes were recorded. Thrombocytopaenia occurred consistently at 150 mg/m2, and three patients experienced episodes of minor bleeding. Extranodal Marginal zone lymphoma (EMZL) is a rare, usually localized disease in children. Advanced stage EMZL in adults is considered incurable, with prolonged remissions after chemotherapy. Gamma heavy chain disease (γHCD) is a rare disease of adults associated with lympho-proliferative processes with no comparable reports in children. We examined the effect of five anaesthetic drugs commonly used in laboratory animal research (tribromoethanol, ketamine/xylazine, chloral hydrate, pentobarbital, and urethane) on the expression of four pro-inflammatory cytokines.
