INTRODUCTION AND METHODS: Skeletal muscle mitochondrial dysfunction may cause tissue oxidative stress and consequent catabolism in chronic kidney disease (CKD), contributing to patient mortality. We report a case of a female in her fifties with early appendiceal adenocarcinoma coexisting with high-grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm(HAMN)with a review of the literature. The patient presented to our hospital because of an enlarged appendix noted by contrast-enhanced CT performed for hematuria. Steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (StAR) is indispensable for steroid hormone synthesis in the adrenal cortex and the gonadal tissues. The effectiveness of neutrons from a facsimile of the Hiroshima bomb was determined cytogenetically. The "Little-Boy" replica (LBR), assembled at Los Alamos as a controlled nuclear reactor for detailed physical dosimetry, was used.
